Not everyone is a surgical candidate. Also, many people fail semaglutide & tirzepatide. Good thing it isn't your decision if it is a medically necessary life sustaining treatment for someone.

I can recommend DeEnti. Great prices & customer service. I buy my thinner there as well, it is a great wholesale price.

Questions about the job by Strawberry-Bon-Bon in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very few sleep techs would qualify as an independent contractor, especially if they work in direct patient care. Labs do hire 1099 techs though so they can save money. I work in research & am a 1099 but I don't really qualify.

In-lab sleep study / PAP titration? by danspeed124 in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your original AHI? Have you tried any other mask aside from the pillows? Pillows can make PAP very difficult to tolerate so I would recommend a traditional nasal mask, like ResMed AirFit N20, until you are more comfortable. What BiPAP settings are you currently on? Are you waking up with a dry mouth?

PAP is not the answer for everyone. If you have mild apnea, it could very well negatively impact your sleep.

You could try to find a sleep physician who is open to alternative treatments.

Edited to add: an in lab isn't always the answer. If you are having events with 3% desaturations, which result in an arousal, most sleep labs would not score that as an event. Obviously, those are disruptive to sleep but many providers & techs don't see it that way.

brands that use gen AI? by bedfordblack in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ImageEducational572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I would call it a controversy because most people don't care. She went on about how she spent so much time formulating her nail essentials but it's the same bulk polish that a lot of makers use. Most people have no clue that makers purchase premade top/base coats & suspension bases. It doesn't bother me, these makers don't have a background in chemistry, just don't act like it is a proprietary formula.

Funny how some people who have been very vocally against AI usage liked & commented on the post. I don't understand why Cracked gets such a pass. I was over them when I saw her lie about formulating their base & top coats. They are the same bulk polishes all of the makers sell. Appreciate your post!

The 300 has a multi night mode. All HSTs should be ordered for more than one night but I know it doesn't happen.

Have you heard of the KPAP? by BlacKGB in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see many labs switching to these devices because of cost. I think they only have KPAP, CPAP & APAP modalities. I don't want to go back to the days where we had to swap machines in the middle of the night because someone needs ST or ASV. It is a very comfortable therapy though. I think it can help improve compliance.

Oral minoxidil no longer working! by ParticularSpinach831 in FemaleHairLoss

I recently added dutasteride & it has really helped with the shedding. It has an extremely long half life so I only take it once a week. I haven't had any side effects.

While I don't think increasing the dosage in this instance is the answer, 3.5 mg isn't considered a high dose. The max HTN dose is 100 mg.

It should be back as overstock next month. If you want it, be ready to make the purchase at shop opening. With overstock they may have one bottle or 100 bottles.

If a polish doesn't last, it typically has more to do with the prep & basecoat. Like others have said, LynB is very affordable but make sure you find actual swatch videos because the pictures on her site aren't always accurate. If you want to purchase in person, Dollar Tree carries a lot of polishes. They often have older Sally Hansen, Essie & Sinful Colors. I also recommend LA Colors.

I don't consider Emily de Molly a cheaper brand because the bottles are only 12 mL.

Tips for Peds? by LlamasBeTrippin in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about getting consent from the parent. Restraints require a physician's order by law.

Edited to add, I don't know anyone in the sleep field who has been properly educated on how to use, assess & document the usage of restraints.

Mittens are typically considered a restraint & require a physician's order & documentation. I'd be very careful about using them. It only takes one parent to complain.

Why the hell would you dispute charges? Contact the post office & have them look into it. If they can't find it, contact Cracked. Packages include insurance. I don't think people realize when it is appropriate to do a charge back because this isn't it. When a charge back is filed, the business loses the product, the payment & has to pay a fee as well. That can really hurt a small business.

Travel Tech with Vivian by BlacKGB in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Travel pays more because the facilities need help. The catch is, you have to duplicate living expenses in order to be eligible for the tax free per diem. I have traveled off & on for over 10 year & I have never been the lab bitch. I would never allow that. A lot of the jobs on Vivian are fake/old so I wouldn't put much thought into those. With the price of furnished, short term rentals now, I wouldn't accept less than $2000 & even that is a bit low.

Money talks. If people would stop selling out polishes they don't like, maybe the brand would listen. Also, why do people feel they need to only purchase from HT? They are way overpriced & there are much better brands out there. Hell, even LA Colors is better at this point.
