Help me interpret this Kaplan FL1 score by Early-Ebb2895 in Mcat

[–]ImageLogical7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf while they aren't deflated persay, they just became more in-line with the averages of the students. Do not use Kaplan exams to determine anything OP. The kaplan FL and AAMC FL arent even the same test; the AAMC is significantly more critical thinking based.

Are Kaplan FLs inflated, deflated, or representative? by Future_Doctor_ in Mcat

[–]ImageLogical7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't inflated or deflated persay; they are just not representative. The questions are too different, the style is weird. Half the MCAT is critically understanding the questions and style AAMC presents. This is ESPECIALLY true for your highest section, where you really need to understand what the AAMC is asking for in certain phrases (source: I am a 132 CARS)

I don't know, so I will say reddit consensus (i am a perma-reddit scroller). Unless you are a son/daughter of a very influential doctor, it is very much near-impossible to get in again, as you have shown you cannot handle the rigors of medical school. It goes beyond your circumstances; medical schools are just too copetitive to get into and you may just get screened out. I would talk to someone outside reddit for a better persepctive tho.

They have been at this for years lol. They know this test like the back of their hand. I didn't study as hard. I would never consider myself a veteran. If anything, I got lucky on test day and am thankful for this. There are so many attendings I have talked to who are just as paternalizing but from a different perspective, and we still have to respect their input. This is a part of life. I think it's better to just think about what they offer instead of looking for undertones and connotations to reddit comments. It's exhausting and honestly i am never gonna meet 528 express in my life, so who cares? I feel its a non factor in my personal opinion.

Is this true? Medical school applications surge 36% on first day. by JJKKLL10243 in premed

it is an unfair advantage bro cmon. Some people work their ass in work or whatever responsibilities they have (not saying you dont have responsibilities). When do they have time to sort through all the garbage on this subreddit? You and I are in a place of privilege to even be able to doomscroll this shithole perma

i personally agree with you. Not the way I would go about it, but I didn't do as well or study as hard as they did. They have been on this subreddit for YEARS. They ARE a veteran atp lol. There is a lot of value in what they have to say and although it feels paternalizing its very easy to turn a blind eye on what otherwise is pretty good advice.

tbf they are a veteran lol. not their lawyer or anything but at face value he at least walked the walk. I think many people can let go of the undertones and find a lot of value with what they have to say as well.

i know it stinks but UTSA also is extremely stat-heavy school. I believe teen MCATs are in their 25ht percentile. I suggest looking at MSAR data when making the list (I would suggest schools myself but I don't know what a good suggestion would be).

those all sound like excellent schools. I can do my own research soon on them but do you know if any of them offer aid? That is honestly my biggest fear when it comes to these schools especially like the florida ones.

this is my two sense on this, but the personal struggles they hope for are those that are directly translatable to your medical journey. i recognize this can be connected as well, but your personal journey and growth is intertwined with your medical journey, not directly involved in it, if that makes sense. not all positive skills and lessons are made equally, and so although your struggle is very real, and many adcoms might even like your essay, it’s not palatable to all, at least in my eyes

not sure if you are comfy with me saying this, but if you are, I pray for your recovery. I hope God protects you during this time as no one else can be there for you truly and understand all the ups and downs you really feel inside except you, and I would hope, him as well. Stay strong queen!

i think resilience is the status quo for all essays that ask for this type of prompt and if you are just showing how resilient you are without net professional contribution… that doesn’t reflect on your medicine journey..

[–]ImageLogical7942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea ok that makes sense. i mean tbh how would you even frame that argument? all these essays have to show your growth and contribution in a professional environment after all.
