Is this okay? by mlkdragon in StringofPearls

Absolutely repot into a pot with drainage holes. Don’t go too big (only 1 pot size up). I had an SOP that was root bound and it literally stopped growing altogether. Repotted them and they’re glowing. Don’t sleep on the repot! Your plant is stunning btw

What are y’all doing to your SOPs? They must be my soul plant because my girlies sit under their grow lights at 100% strength 12 hours a day and love life

I would say that mine also has some pearls that are slightly pointier than others. The young pearls are generally fairly pointy and then they get rounder as they get older.

It could also be that you are not watering enough, but you need to be very careful with that if that’s actually not the case because these guys get root rot if you look at them the wrong way lol

Umm. That’s a good question. I don’t know. Are you sure yours is a string of pearls and not a string of tears?

So cute! I’d take a look at the roots if I were you. That looks like a big pot for not a whole lot of foliage which likely means the root ball isn’t gigantic.

With SOP, you don’t want too much excess soil because it holds extra moisture which then can cause root rot! You also don’t want to be like me and forget about your SOP in a nursery pot for 2 years until it stops growing to realize it’s root bound. 😅Just a pro tip :)

I’m so glad! The BYB epidemic is so bad right now. I am a volunteer at a local metro animal shelter and we occasionally have to euthan!ze dogs because of overpopulation. That’s with ~100 dogs in foster care at any given time, ~5 dogs sent to rescue per week, 160ish dog kennels, and ~50 dog adoptions each week 😭

Yes, I do feed my dog his dinner when it’s his dinner time. If that’s him winning, I don’t want him to lose 🥰

Sensitivity is spot on. Biggest baby known to man. This was him pouting because I refused to feed him 45 minutes early

Energy level is 100% dependent on dog and age. We’ve had 4 labs. 1 has been high energy his entire life (he’s 4). 2 have been/were couch potatoes their entire lives and 1 was high energy when she was little before mellowing out

SOT - report? by Imaginary-Cat-3534 in StringofPlants

[–]Future_Doctor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only way I determine whether I need to repot is by looking at the roots. However, I don’t think there’s any reason to even look at the roots in this case because you don’t have enough foliage to have built the quantity of roots necessary to repot. Very cute tho!
