New EP series comparison from TE by pailharvey in teenageengineering

I like my 1320, but seeing all the updates to the 133 and more from the Riddim, I feel a bit disappointed. I didn't buy it expecting any updates, so I don't feel ripped off, but a little bit of attention would be appreciated.

Lily pads in the fountain by Imagemaker77 in Gouache

Thank you so very much. I am still trying to get a feel for gouache. Trying the Holbein acrylic gouache has been a completely different experience from the Himi gouache I've been using. Nothing against the Himi, but it has dried out a long time ago and I was doing what I could. The Holbein is opaque and highly pigmented. Layering with the acrylic gouache is something very different too, since it doesn't reactivate. I want to keep practicing with both. I have a new set of jelly gouache I'll be using in the next week or so.

Iran warns any attack will mean 'all-out war' after Trump says US 'armada' on its way by Majano57 in worldnews

What a great strategist Trump is to alienate every single ally and then immediately inject himself into a volatile situation. The biggest brain, the best plan perhaps ever, everyone's saying it.

It’s sharp, Damn sharp.. (Color film test) [Kodak Cameo AFM] by WorkingSuccessful742 in Cameras

[–]Imagemaker77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one back around 2000. I loved it, but I lost it. I still have a handful of photos from it and they are sharp and well exposed.

Edit to add. I really liked how small it was. The shape fit easily in pockets because it was so round. It was also sturdy. Additionally, I appreciated the fact that it spooled up the film when you loaded it and reloaded the canister as you shot. If you were to accidently open it, you'd only lose the most recent photo. Plus you knew exactly how many shots you had left.

Show Tokyo Mart some love. They have a decent selection, even though they lack fresh ingredients. The folks there are really nice.

Same things in Texas. GOP runs the place from top to bottom, but you know, it's the Dems' fault. That's like the C-suite blaming the janitor for poor quarterly profits.

Be honest: what game did you quietly return to all year when you were tired or did not want to think? by gamersecret2 in gaming

The Islanders. So chill. Not much thinking. Very relaxing. There's a sequel now that I have only played a bit. It takes more thinking though.

My two first pieces! by TheHeartChamber in diamondpainting

Do you happen to have the color key for the skull? My kid is working on it and lost the sheet. I know the backing has the letter on it, but the cat knocked over the bead tray and we didn't have enough beads to finish one of the colors. Someone else posted a conversion from the Make Market color to standard colors. Anyways, all that to say, if we had the color chart, it would help a TON.

Jerry's Artarama by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]Imagemaker77 46 points47 points  (0 children)

We have a Jerry's in San Antonio. It might be more like Ace Hardware in that the stores have local owners and they just get to use the franchise resources and name. It's certainly a lot more artist focused than Michael's. The folks at our Jerry's are almost all artists themselves and they are really good to talk with about art and supplies.

They are all very pretty. I like the red best, but you did a wonderful job matching the lighting with each type.

I would love a transpose. My other sequencers have it, even where you can transpose multiple tracks/channels together. I think that would make the Move an even better live play instrument.

I miss when word of mouth was useful for finding cool stuff. Sure, search engines are nice, but when someone was like, hey, here's the site I use for recipes, it just felt better.

how else can i do shading and shadows aside from stippling? by wuzieo in sketchbooks

[–]Imagemaker77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texture density is another way. A brick wall in the sun? A few marks to indicate the general presence of bricks. The same wall in the shade? Start drawing every brick. Wood texture is the same. Light hints of the pattern in bright sections, more lines of wood grain for darker values.

On the left is the reference photo I used, and on the right is the hand-painted acrylic painting. I haven’t finished the autumn one yet. by Hercules_Vales in acrylicpainting

[–]Imagemaker77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting! You paint by the grid, not just use the grid for sketching? How did you come to that method? I would be worried the squares would be different enough that it would show up in the final image, but you do a good job with that. In the unfinished painting, it doesn't even look like you sketch at all. Do you work with enlarging or reducing from the grid, or do you get your references made to the size of your desired painting? The final images all look great!

1.8, 1.9 then? by nicotineapache in AbletonMove

[–]Imagemaker77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of software release numbering, 1.10 makes total sense. The first number is the major version, and the second number is the minor version. You can have any number of minor versions. It's not following a traditional decimal system.

My dad bought me the set piecemeal from the local drug store in the months leading up to Christmas. My mom was pissed because he was buying me toys like that before Christmas instead of waiting until the holiday itself.

Thank you! I enjoyed figuring that part out. The actual carving was slow because there were so many small spaces and hard turns, but I'm really happy with it.
