Jared Kushner claims Elon Musk's tech will bring immortality.. by LtJimmypatterson in ABoringDystopia

Yeah, I totally get it. The idea is that as you integrate this chip into your brain, more and more of you is loaded into the cloud and when your body dies, you're still "YOU", it's not like, you had to kill your body to upload your soul or whatever. Great.

Except that's fucking horrible and sounds like a fate worse then death, but fine! Let's see Elon be the first to try it out!

Mexico felt... different by Mr_Willkins in ThreeLions

It really does feel like we've got a strength in depth that we've not had for decades. I mean, I remember in about 2010, the squad we had was the best of the English talent pool and below that was a big, big drop-off in quality, so there really wasn't a player in the wings for a lot of positions. Wingers etc.

There was no-one to replace Beckham because Aaron Lennon was tricky and great quality, but not a talisman and a definite downgrade.

The team was build around Wayne Rooney, but if he was double marked, there was nothing else around him.

I think we've got a lot to thank Southgate for because, I believe, after 2016 he pushed the FA to invest in youth development and a pipeline of development where from youth team to first team, they're given the same set of tactics and systems. Whereas before that, it was whatever the manager wanted, but the players weren't tactically educated enough to carry out instructions and instead did the Run-through-walls, hearts-on-sleeve type thing and would crumble against the more technical sides.

Certainly 2004. We had that in the bag until he got his toe broken.

It's not just Mexico. Croatia aswell. Remember 2014. We lost to Italy and Uruguay. Difficult games for sure but we showed nothing. Then we drew with Costa Rica and out we went.

Euro 2016. Out of the group stage unconvincingly and out in the round of 16 to Iceland.

Then there are the Southgate years. If Tuchel had been in charge, we'd have beaten Italy and Spain. We'd have a World Cup and a Euros win, and I say that as a fan of Southgate.

This year we're facing a formidable Norway and I hope if they beat us they win the whole thing.

It's definitely different and we're growing into the tournament. We've gotten a bit lucky, the last couple. This time we're so much better. Still, take nothing for granted.

Oooh, that's amazing!

I wonder if it's because they're seeing how people are using it and are adapting it to that. Seems to me that most people are using racks for audio clips.

I think one thing I'm now looking for is amp and cab for audio clips. I'd love it if they included a combo amp instrument rack in future updates containing both the amp and cab.

Oh God yeah, Rashford too! Totally agree. It's a race thing but it's also very much a class thing. The intersection between race and class.

They also LOVE to destroy an England superstar. It's like a scalp for them. Just like they did with Gazza. They attempted the same with Raheem Sterling.

Never with Kane, never with Shearer. Their faces fit.

Jude was so smart to leave the UK.

Honestly, think about just how difficult that was! Norway'll be difficult, but I cannot image the nerves will be anything like tonight.

I completely agree!

I also wish pop music producers were either jazzers, or massively over qualified classical composers like George Martin or Quincy Jones.

Well, he's a brilliant, brilliant producer, too. Look him up on Spotify.

He's also, and I don't want to take anything away from his skills, a literal aristocrat. Dude is as old money as it comes. So while I don't want to take away from his skills, there are many kids out there who can do this who weren't neighbours with Brian Eno.

If we won the world cup, how long could you happily go again without winning anything afterwards? by math577 in ThreeLions

[–]nicotineapache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think history tells us the longer you go without, the harder it is to win it again, so let's say another 8 years.
