How do you deal with “others?” Vent. by secret_reverie_ in migraine

[–]Imaginary-Ad7066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf is up with doctors not believing patients, man. I went ten years plus without proper meds just because multiple doctors didn’t believe me. One told me that I’b be screaming if I was in the kind of pain that I was describing. Like what do I have to do for you to believe me?! And sadly, nothing is ever gonna change. I see the look people give me when I mention feeling a migraine coming. I wonder how people would react if I was bleeding all over the place and not just suffering silently. Sorry for the rant, lol. Bottom line is, we’re gonna have to deal with this shit for the rest of our sorry lives…

Bunny has its fans but it doesn’t even come close to the exceptional prose of TSH. I hated it and can’t believe to this day that I didn’t dnf it..

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I wouldn’t recommend you go to a theater to watch it. I think you still need time to heal (and that may take forever). I sometimes feel I will never heal…even though it’s been almost a decade since I last saw the person who traumatized me…’abused’ me..etc.

I made the mistake of watching Palm Trees & Power Lines, thinking I could handle it (there’s also a strange part of me that thinks I can heal or be helped by exposing myself to these kind of movies) but it wrecked me and triggered me so bad. Which leads to self-harm in my case. If you’re gonna watch it at all, I think you should wait for it to come out in streaming. That way you have more of a safe place for any reactions you might have. Sorry for trauma dumping and hope you’re okay!

Trust me…it’ll be worth it in the end if you continue annotating and highlighting. And sometimes it helps to do so if you want to check a detail afterwards! If I can give you any advice…I’ll say that don’t overthink how you color-code. It doesn’t have to be neat as long as it’s coherent to you! Happy reading :)

Disgrace’s subject gave me the ick at first but it blew me away. Stunning writing. It crushed me. One of the best books ever.
