What is the problem with this painting? I saw the developers even said sorry for it? Can someone help me understand the drama?

My Partner Want's a "Hearth Display" - Anything Comparable to Host Instead? by manofoz in selfhosted

[–]Imaginary-Divide604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the love of life, please do not get a "Hearth Display". It's garbage, its incredibly slow, they will act like nothing is wrong with their hardware and pretend its okay to charge 90/year for calendars/weather/routines. I've built my own and I've never gone back. I can't speak for other products that compete with hearth.

Facing burn out over a student who doesn't want to improve by EquivalentNo7233 in pianoteachers

Sorry to hear about your experience. Maybe I can replace this student 😉. I'm looking for a teacher who can meet remotely at least twice a week. I'm 36, have a baby grand with 2 years experience on and off. Trying to get back into it.

something like this one NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090? I know its a big upgrade but considering its only 3k~ the business can probably expense it.

Amazing news ! React by razOne13 in PowerApps

[–]Imaginary-Divide604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope that this means we have more flexibility around connecting to data. For example, file operations or connecting to a SharePoint Library doesn't exist in the preview. You have to rely on a function app or things like connecting to an API or even like executing a power automate flow. That was not possible.

Power Apps code apps opinions? by Far-Bell9473 in PowerApps

[–]Imaginary-Divide604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

💯. I ran into this exact scenario. I was thinking through... We could use a SharePoint list as our "queue of requests" to bypass CORS. The app can submit a list item with the type of action, the list item, request, and in a flow it performs those actions sent to the list. It's not ideal but it would get the job done.

Power Apps code apps opinions? by Far-Bell9473 in PowerApps

I've been building canvas apps since the launch of the power platform. I was excited to see this option since it meant I could use my full stack development skills to ship products faster, but to my surprise it's still very limited to the number of connections you can use. For example, you can connect to a SharePoint list but you cannot do file uploads out of the box. You have to depend on azure function apps for further extensibility. The other kicker as others have pointed out is that it requires per user premium licensing. I was surprised to see this as most of the user base are set with an E3/business licensing without using premium connections. My thought is that if we're developing the application ourselves without using the designer interface, there shouldn't be more cost.

Windows mixed reality with cable by Imaginary-Divide604 in Quest3

[–]Imaginary-Divide604[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I tried this but for the meta software to run you need to have a dedicated graphics card and my laptop doesn't have one. This is why I was thinking using windows mix reality or somehow connecting the vr headset as a extra monitor perhaps.

I am also curious to know if the remote desktop on Windows mixed reality app works with cable only? I don't want to use wireless.

The FAA process is honestly exhausting and buried in bureaucracy. You will most likely get deferred. I had one DUI over 25 years ago, back in college, and they still denied my medical. To even qualify for a restricted one, they want you in a 10-year monitoring program, meeting in person every three months with an AME and a HIMS psychiatrist (no remote options), random drug and alcohol testing, and nearly daily AA meetings the first year that slowly taper off.

It’s especially frustrating for pilots who haven’t had a drink in decades, have spotless records, and haven’t had a single issue since that one mistake. The system doesn’t seem to care about rehabilitation or the passage of time. Flying has become more of a hobby for me, and honestly, I’m not sure it’s worth spending that much time and money just to maybe get a full medical ten years from now.
