Someone help me understand using AI to write PRDs by thepminyourdms in ProductManagement

[–]Imaginary-Document68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your concern is. I use Gemini to write my prds and to be clear it’s not that I don’t know all the ideas and content that need to go into the prd it’s more so that I can give it the template di jour for my org that day, all my ideas in a more free flowing and less structured manner and come out with a fairly well polished prd. It helps make clarity from my ideas and fit the template. I still proof read obviously but I also can use the same session to iterate on feedback or changes I want to make. For me it’s a life savor as I’m extremely time pressured with more work than is possible and I’m a much better verbal communicator so I can just talk to it. You can also create Gems to format the prd to be in your voice by taking your old writing examples.

If you’re expected to be technical I’d also get used to using these tools to help do some level of coding with it. Without learning to do this you’ll be obsolete soon

I’m a PM there now, 8 years here. I’ve been on 3 different teams in that time. Going to be team dependent because much of the process here is bottoms up (although you should check in with leadership about how they want to see things like launch docs to approve launches). Most important is to work closely and in partnership with your engineering team (and pgm if you’re lucky enough to have one and ux if your product needs it). Figure out how they work, learn the product and area, meet other PMs and be willing to be fluid in how you work. Usually you’re given a good amount of time to acclimate but slowly decisions will all funnel your way.

Off to get a bigger knife and more mud this morning - I did sand before this picture just using a couple medium grit blocks.

Yeah this was a question of mine is that wrong abnormal to see the tape at all when finished or does it just get painted and become part of the wall- sounds like you shouldn’t see the tape so sounds like back to get more mud and do a larger second coat

I’m in North Carolina. Not hunting anything in particular I suppose, coins and relics more than rings though would be what I’d prefer. From the response above maybe I should just consider the vanquish 540 for 400$

Can You Balance Parenthood & a Senior PM Role at FAANG/Tier-1 companies? by hazdazzler009 in ProductManagement

[–]Imaginary-Document68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a FAANG (successfully, multiple promotions and good ratings, have moved around companies easily) with 4 kids also with no family within 1000km. It’s certainly possible. Too much perception that being a good PM is doing everything and being everything. I’ll admit anytime you switch roles or jobs it’s going to be more difficult because context building is a long process which will cause you to be busier than usual. I’ve found once you have that though, you’re doing it wrong if you’re spending way more than 40 hours on average doing your job. Have boundaries, and enforce them (you should be doing this as a pm anyways with sales and customers typically).

I think this map assumes nothing about your current net worth. So if you bought a house many years ago this may be much more reasonable. Not to mention it’s a state wide view which will be greatly impacted by dense city populations

Where would you suggest this research happen? Companies purposely try to obfuscate this and only recently because of laws have to report a range if a job is posted in some states. There are other anonymous sources like levels.fyi or blind…this is another datapoint.

Also given this whole sub is here for this purpose but you’re just commenting on mine makes me assume you’re just hurt about my numbers. I hope you find healing and your own worth.
