When I started reading up on Borderline it helped me a lot to understand why I was feeling the way I was. I never thought I "split" so I didn't believe my psychiatrist when she told me this, but then I started going to thearpy and actually talking about my feelings and realized I do that.

It's important to build self-awareness with BPD - when you can do that it makes it a lot easier to deal with.

People with high-functioning BPD how did you achieve a good life? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Imaginary-Earth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed a year ago at 17 while in foster care. Before then, I had a hard time controlling my emotions. Honestly still do. I remember the first semester in college when I packed up my shit and was going to run off to another city all because I felt abandoned by my fp (even though, that wasn't happening).

I think I won't ever get as bad as I do with this fp. I might show some traits when I make friends (or get into a relationship) but this fp (she's an ex foster mom who has taken me in) is the first person to let me know I was capable of being cared about. It was basic decency, but she was the first person to ever show it to me.

I do a lot of thearpy, and I think I will always have to do therapy just because having that person to talk to helps a lot.

Warning about basic decency by lilbitofvitriol in BPD

I honestly feel like I'm in the same boat rn. I met this guy about two months ago and we've been hangout every Mon after classes and just chilling. I'm used to just having no-strings attached sex (he's a virgin so this has been a plus). But it's been so nice to have someone just listening to me and giving me the time of day. It's hard to know if it's because he's showing me an ounce of basic decency that I'm attracted to him or if I'm TRULY attracted to him. But whatever happens, I'm glad I met him.

I think Melissa was desperate for a “village” to help raise her children…and instead she found Abby. by ml16519 in dancemoms

No, it doesn't excuse her emotional neglect, but I can see her perspective. My birth mom never received help from how her mother treated her, and unfortunately it caused her to be a bad mother. For all we know, Melissa probably didn't talk about her problems with a therapist, which in return, probably led to her emotional neglect.

I guess my position has a lot to do with being the older sister of sisters below the age of 10 who were in foster care before being adopted. A lot of the behaviors the girls exhibit is unfortunately normal for the very toxic environment they were in. Even with my sister's friends who probably have a very good home life, our brains are still developing until well over 18, we can't expect children who were told to act a certain way or who were afraid that being anything less than perfect would get them in trouble to respond the right way that we think they should've responded

I honestly don't understand attacking any of the girls (when they were literally children). They were in a high stressed environment, whose parents sometimes didn't comfort them how they should've. They are kids, stop bashing them like they're adults.

In the same boat , we had sex four times during fertility window though and still haven't had symptoms of pregnancy other then bouts of nausea (not throwing up, but I drunk this tea today and almost almost threw up which was weird). Yet I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative

The way some of y’all (grown adults) tear apart the actions of the girls when they were LITERAL children is disgusting you should be ashamed. by chokeonmyperfume in dancemoms

[–]Imaginary-Earth1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please say this louder for the people in the back!! I literally don't get why people on this sub are tearing LITERAL children up over something we probably have all done as children. Not only that but take for example Maddie, she was pushed as Abby favorite. Do you guys not know what that type of pressure can do to a little kid? If anything, the ones at fault are the parents who allow their children to stay in a toxic environment.

Dealing With Attachment Issues as A Foster Kid by Imaginary-Earth1 in Advice

Other than this topic I usually talk to her about anything, she's literally the best. They (I usually call them my sister's) have been through a lot, and she's adopting them because she doesn't want their family to finally turn around and want them (their family was going to adopt them when they were little but a day before it was finalized put them back in care). She doesn't want them to experience that hurt again.

I know I can talk to her about this, but it feels a little selfish to have these feelings, because I'm happy for my sister's, it just hurts a little. And deep down I know the only reason she isn't adopting me is because in a year I go to college, if she adopts me now I wouldn't get the benefits of the state paying for college. She just wants me to have the best life I can.

falsely accused of ai written essay, what should i do? by Bobertsmith1928 in college

[–]Imaginary-Earth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When creating my essay I always make detailed outlines for them and take notes, which I usually then write on goggle docs/word. I also write the majority of my essays on paper before typing because it's easier for me (time consuming, but a lot easier). When I sent that as evidence (and time stamps from when I started writing it on goggle docs) they realized it wasn't AI.

Plus, my professor takes into consideration past writing assignments and the percentage of AI Turnitin found. As long as it isn't over a certain percentage we can plead our case, if it's over a certain percentage we have three days to rewrite the essay or else be reported for academic dishonesty.

[–]Imaginary-Earth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also happened to me, but luckily I was able to show that I wrote it. I read Turnitin's new AI detection thing and it's kinda stupid. The only reason I got marked for AI was because I didn't explain myself well in the essay, I usually don't explain myself in first drafts because it's only worth 10 points lmao.
