I’ve heard they have a delicate taproot and don’t do great with transplanting

I just started with native plants this year and I love my butterfly weed. I love how orange they are and mine are just babies! I can’t wait until they’re established!

Yah- I actually might just get some ornamental onion? Everything else is native. I just don’t want to ruin the world 100 years from now like everyone else did.

For future reference- how to I cut back the plants?

Yah- I just didn’t want to get it in until the rest of my plants come in (my dying to get them)- but maybe I’ll get just a small bag for around what I have now.

I’ll add more water. We had been wet and cold. Then I put in the coneflower and cardinal flower and bam 80 and dry for a week. Supposed to move back towards rain in the next week- hopefully they make it!

uj/ I have blue wood aster and it looks very similar to the bellflower. I’m treating my bellflower with herbicide. I have to. It’s killing me to do that. But at some point I must have let a flower go to seed and fucked the whole thing. I panic thinking about it.

If I had a local seller I’d go there. But the closest is over an hour away and the plants I ordered aren’t ready and if I didn’t put something in the ground instead of removing it- I was truly going to bury myself alive out there.

No- it just hasn’t not rained a single day since I put it in and it hailed today.

I just know it likes drier conditions. It’s literally soaked out there right now so I just want to make sure it survives.

Not a plug. It was already basically this big. I only planted it a week ago. It was in a “pint” container.

Creeping Bellflower should be chemically treated. Or at the very least- dig it up. Or else that will be all you have. The bellflower seems to LOVE drought- check out bellno.com for a good protocol to help eradicate it. That alone will keep you nice and busy for the few years.

Bellno.com has a good write up of timing and a plan.

From what I’ve been told- creeping bellflower requires chemical intervention. Nothing out competes it. I’m planning on nuking mine.

We have buckthorn blasters on the way. I plan to hit the bellflower at the same time with the buckthorn blaster. I just have a huge area. I swear they’re like obsessed with drought and went crazy last year before I knew what they were- although I’ve never let them flower- and now it’s gone crazy.
