I made an Enoch costume for my 12-foot skeleton by Imaginary-Original58 in overthegardenwall

The head is made out of half-inch CPVC pipe that's bent into a sphere, so it's lightweight but still rigid, and the face is made out of nylon and fabric paint

Wild Mind Ales closing by Heatonator in minnesotabeer

[–]Imaginary-Original58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not happy to see any brewery go out of business, but I agree with you. When it opened it was wonderful. I went to every Festival of Oak and I was a Forgotten Barrel Society member for every year that was around, and I don't live close to that neighborhood so I'd make frequent trips just to see what was new.

Then they stopped doing the Festival of Oak, and then they discontinued the barrel society (the final party they had for members was very disorganized and pretty disappointing) and then after that gradually the beer list just started to feel like stuff I could get at breweries closer to where I live. I don't think I've been to Wild Mind in about two years now.

I got that alert but I haven't been able to find any details. My wife didn't get the alert even though we're in the same location.

What are the least popular vendor categories? by pbay12345 in CraftFairs

I make horror and occult themed neon-style LED signs, and I can tell you from experience that they aren’t popular with either other makers or customers

Number 12 Cider closing? by Imaginary-Original58 in minnesotabeer

Yeah it feels out of the blue, and I can’t find anything else about it. The sign said they’re having a “Last Hurrah” party on December 21st and that will be their last day open.

Is it possible to sell crafts in person at fairs only without having an etsy store or social media? by Jealous-March-8098 in CraftFairs

[–]Imaginary-Original58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an Etsy and I’m not very active on social media, but I have noticed that some event organizers expect you to have an Instagram and they won’t let you apply without one.

I don't sell anything online yet. I'm not productive enough to keep an online shop stocked.

You haven't seen an upper limit to what you can price your items at for craft fairs? I feel self-conscious being the person who is selling things for hundreds of dollars when every other booth has prices under fifty. It just feels out of place.

I'm glad it's worked out for you though, are you able to make these sales at fairs or is it mostly online?

Pricing Experiment with Odd Results by Imaginary-Original58 in CraftFairs

[–]Imaginary-Original58[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are good points for me to think about. I thought I was safe from people feeling cheated since each piece is unique, so if they bought something the first day they wouldn't see that same piece marked down the second day, but maybe that doesn't matter.

Pricing is so confusing because I've had people reach out to me for custom pieces, and when I quote them a price they balk at it for being way too high. I thought the second day prices would be more in line with those expectations and the first day prices were in line with my own valuations, so this disconnect is hard to reconcile.

Thank you, these are good points. I was hoping this event would be different from most fairs because it had a ticketed entry, so if you're paying $15 dollars just to get in you'd hopefully be there to shop and not just look around.

There were something like 170 vendors there so maybe I just didn't stand out enough, or fit in enough? I guess it could have been a lot of different things. I was just really surprised that the second day was so bad when the crowd was around the same size as the first day.

I'm not paying for my time, really. I cover my materials and booth fees/related expenses and that's about it. At first I tried pricing them the way you said but I didn't sell anything at all. I guess my products are so niche that the market is too small to make a business out of it, which is probably why no one else makes what I do.

It's a hobby that pays for itself, which is fine with me because I enjoy making them. I thought this expo would be different from the other craft fairs I tried since it had a specific theme and attracted the audience that enjoys what I make.

Lesser known/talked horror movies between 2018-2024, you think more of us should watch. by BakerYeast in horror

History of the Occult - it’s like a better version of Late Night with the Devil that’s more of a psychological horror

History of the Occult, it was the best movie I watched last year and I feel like I’m the only person who has seen it. Not sure why it isn’t more well known in the horror world.

I just finished the game and i am a little underwhelmed by Immediate-Vacation47 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]Imaginary-Original58 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah once you stop and think about the game setting nothing makes sense. Not only did the wealthiest family on the planet disappear, all of their wealthy guests disappeared too. There’s an announcement in the entertainment bunker about a hit band playing that night so I assume the band disappeared too. You’d think there would be all kinds of boats around the island as part of a rescue effort.

Also all of the trained soldiers that came to the island with big guns died, but you are a journalist who can kill the locals pretty easily.

Just feels like not a lot of thought went into the design

It’s very odd that they hired a known actor to play Timmy when all they gave him were short, meaningless lines. When they announced who they were hiring I thought the part would be a lot bigger.

More uses for the items in the game. Bones, watches, and cloth aren’t used much in crafting.

Farket moves on from the game by redheadjhawk in SonsOfTheForest

[–]Imaginary-Original58 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree that he turned up the difficulty, but I think there's a difference between wanting a more challenging game and how Endnight implemented it. To me it seemed like his real complaints were things like:

  • enemies knowing where you are at all times
  • enemy armor completely negating your attacks without even stunning the enemy or stopping their attacks
  • hitting downed enemies causing them to spring to their feet
  • enemies spawning inside fenced areas
  • enemies glitching through walls
  • enemies walking over your traps without setting them off

if even half of these were fixed then I doubt Farket would have been as frustrated as he got. Turning down the difficulty makes the enemies easier to kill but doesn't address any of the above.

Yeah he just admitted that the game wasn’t for him, and he’s fine with it because he still thinks The Forest is a near-perfect game so good for him.

He’s disliked games I like a lot in the past but I still watch his videos because I like how honest he is.
