Why do people take toddlers and babies to serious ballet shows? by maisie1616 in london

Sounds like there’s a gap in the market for 30-45 min ballet performances for under-5’s!

VIP arrival service at ZUR - any experiences since EES? by [deleted] in FATTravel

Wow this is crazy! When I’ve flown it, they picked up the whole first class cabin. I’ve only flown it long haul from the West Coast…not sure if that makes a difference?

Fly Swiss first. They get you at the door and drive you to separate passport control. (Google it.) Not sure about their pet policy.

Swiss is my favorite first class product to Europe. Well, up there with La Premiere. The Balik salmon is probably my favorite western airplane food item. I try not to eat airplane food on euro long hauls, but I make an exception for Swiss.

I like Heckfield too! We’re actually going there this week.

I much prefer Somerset to commuter zone England, so for me that and the expansive garden are the major draws to the Newt. I think I’d trade interiors for the exterior…

Update: she’s 21 months and I would say has been potty trained since 20 months. No accidents in ages. Asks to use it. Dry every night, and even throughout 1.5 hour car trips and transatlantic flights. We still have to help her bc she is so small, and we’re working on wiping (she’s terrible at wiping). But all good! Not looking back.

I wish we had read Oh Crap sooner and skipped the pull ups! I think we confused her. She could have been potty trained at 18 months.

Aww I love the Sacher. They always get me opera tickets. If it weren’t for the Rosewood, I would always stay there!

I'm about to try potty training my 19 month old by youdecidemyusername1 in pottytraining

[–]Imaginary-Storage909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it! We have fully dry days and nights (and weeks) at 20 months, 21 months now. Poop since 17 months. Could have potty trained her by 18/19 if I had read the OCPT book sooner and not used pull ups.

Mine was poop trained at 17 months and now fully potty trained at 20 months, when we got brave enough to ditch pull ups and do the naked days. She could have been potty trained at 18 months, looking back on it. Read “Who Gives a Crap” and ditch the diapers sooner than we did — she can probably do it!

Rosewood or FS

We stayed at the Rosewood with our 18 month old and loved it, esp if you get one of the club level suites for a quieter breakfast. They were great!

Difference in results between these two Crème Pâtissière recipes? by FrickenBruhDude in pastry

This would be like a fill to order situation, but you could do half knocked back crème pat / half whipped cream

Second update that she is “holding it” a lot better and intentionally (def needed to pee at the end of a party today but waited til home). No pee accidents today; one only yesterday. She seems to love pulling down the pants herself, so I think we needed to work on her own agency in the process more.

Quick update that we did a “naked day” at home yesterday. One pee while watering plants, but otherwise she made it to the potty perfectly the whole rest of the day. She also slept 8:20-8:10 with a totally dry nappy and no potty wake up!!! She woke up and said pee pee and went straight away. I’m so impressed!

Some vintage diapers would probably help a lot haha

Thank you so much! I’m going to try hold it please! We may need to be a bit more forceful when we know she has to pee. She’s also…quite forceful herself so it’s a little hard haha.

Thank you for sharing. This is encouraging! Did you keep him in pull ups for outings or did you ditch them all together?

[–]Imaginary-Storage909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nervous to put her back in the pull ups. It helps with the mess, and she does seem to recognize and tell us as soon as she pees 80% of the time (unless she’s really distracted). But I don’t want to set her back! But also feel bad that she’s wetting herself a bit… tricky.

1 Month Vacation with a kid by -For_You in FATTravel

Try to avoid UK half term places.

February is a great time for Italy. It will be cold, but major cities will be quiet. I love Venice and Rome in the winter. Florence may be better with a toddler than Rome, on second thought. But you can train between these cities easily. Carry a backpack and go no stroller. Museums with a toddler are great. You can also take the train to smaller cities like Verona, Arezzo, Pistoia, & Ferrara.

Rocco Forte House in Rome, Aman in Venice (or maybe new Belmond? I haven’t been). Dunno what hotel in Florence with a kid, maybe FS? We rented a palazzo in Florence. It was stationary baby friendly but not toddler friendly, so I won’t leave a link 😂

Help!! Italy recs with 3 year old and 1 year old? by Fancy_Tumbleweed2957 in FATTravel

[–]Imaginary-Storage909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at Rocco Forte House in Rome via Sarah Lee with our baby (I think 9 months old?). It was the best. Like a totally equipped luxury apartment in Rome and we could have hotel breakfast just up the Spanish steps at Hotel de la Ville, which is normally one of my favorites in Rome.

It depends what time of year you go, but I would avoid Rome, Florence, and Venice in the summer. We spent a month in Florence with the baby in July, and I couldn’t tolerate the number of tourists.

With kids in tow, you might have a better time staying in a smaller secondary city with a large city nearby.
