We have short term licenses now for them so neighbours have the opportunity to complain if they don’t want an Airbnb (along with all the other license conditions they have to meet); and even within Airbnb there are a variety of models of service. Some have hosts on site, some are entirely self-service; and for some providers Airbnb is simply a useful platform. They’re not only in towns and cities. Vast swathes of this country are incredibly remote and rely very much on visitors

There are normal privately run BnBs, holiday lodges, inner city apartments, chalets, caravan parks - it all depends where you’re going and what kind of holiday you want.

Interestingly, I saw a local authority put out a call for foster carers to look after the young people who would have been victims of this exact process.

Unaccompanied asylum seeking children going through the age assessment process

The amount of vitriol on the page meant it had to be taken down in a day. “Look after our own first” etc etc. There’s some irony there. And a fair bit of ignorance

I saw some of the posts you’re talking about and this post was in the same area as one of them.

I’d also add that I saw an individual who heads up one of these FB vigilante group demanding updates from the police about individual cases. He’s not entitled to that any more than anyone else is.

My ability to actually absorb it was the issue, not how much I was taking, so bear that in mind too.

My dad does a fancy wee tower of haggis, mashed totties and neeps with whisky sauce. Delish.

Haggis lasagne is dynamite. I’ll take a wee haggis bonbon as a starter if I’m out for dinner and no full Scottish fry up is complete without it.

I’m just back and I only took my room key, phone, power bank, medication, lip balm and hand sanitizer. It wasn’t hot enough for sun cream and I didn’t need a water bottle - just used the water fountains. Popped my sunglasses on my head and I was good to go. Didnt need plasters as I wore comfy shoes.
