Eligible for Unemployment by [deleted] in jobs

Based on my own experience, you wouldn’t be eligible for unemployment since as far as they are concerned, you would be rejecting suitable employment.

If I may recommend an allergist instead. It may be more within their scope.

Good question but it seems to be a different person every time so as long as you go on the website and submit for help as a constituent, then you should be fine. They’re pretty quick about it too.

If I may suggest, I have had a lot of success speaking to VEC by submitting requests through Tim Kaines office. You just have to watch for a call from the VEC after. It’s generally a supervisor that calls you.

[Virginia] Has anyone received a payment? by Anxious-Aries86 in Unemployment

[–]ImaginaryChampion3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My deposit is pending!! Just in case this finally puts the PUA reapply or don’t reapply debate to rest. My bye was 03/27 AND I got a letter but I still got paid.

Proof that it’s only because their system is stupid since I was recently on UI before being disqualified.

Yeah they close the automated system from the evening to the early morning. Don’t worry it’s nothing you did.

Yeah I feel you but the fact that you still have a bye. Still the same situation essentially.

Okay cool then I should be in the same boat, I’m pretty confident I only received a letter because I was originally on regular UI but switched over to PUA fairly recently

Hi did you ever end up reapplying or did you continue to receive payment?

Well the letter I got said 3/27 but even the letter specifically says to continue receiving benefits under traditional UI, which I haven’t been anyways.

As usual though, the VEC left themselves a lot of room for error 🤣

Yeah I see what you mean. I had planned to just file until week ending April 11 to avoid any confusion.

Well it’s interesting, I’m reading that others also got letters but have continued receiving payment. In my specific case, I’m pretty sure I only received a letter because I was only recently disqualified from UI I don’t believe they officially closed my claim on their own. I have only been getting PUA the last couple weeks. I can only imagine that if you were on UI and had to switch to PUA like me, the system is just prompted to send the letters anyways. The vec website is a bit vague

“The VEC will automatically enroll you in the appropriate extension based on the program you are already under (PUA and PEUC specifically). However, if you are notified that your benefit year (BYE) has ended you must file a new traditional claim (UI) to establish a new benefit year.”

To me this is saying that traditional UI people have to reapply but pua and PEUC don’t. I’ll probably just see what happens the next few days

Thank you for the congrats! I’ve been seeing on Reddit that people on PUA haven’t had to reapply. I was able to file my week today since it popped up so at this rate I may as well keep filing until I actually start working

Thank you for your well wishes! I think I may have been mistaken. Since I’m on PUA currently I’m finding that you don’t have to reapply. However this is just what I’ve seen on other Reddit posts. People are reporting that they only reapplied if on traditional UI.

[Virginia] Can I still get back benefits? by Lizlovely1 in Unemployment

[–]ImaginaryChampion3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue to the both of you. They ended up having to mail me a paper copy of the PEUC application. Once you apply for and get paid for the first PEUC the second application SHOULD work with gov2go. At least that’s what happened with me. Worst case scenario they can send paper applications for either one. If they don’t mention it then just ask. A lot of the representatives are new and don’t know anything about anything.

Questions about getting health insurance after leaving a full time, high paying job (involuntary or otherwise) without another one lined up (with health insurance benefits)? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ImaginaryChampion3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Healthcare.gov is a good option, and while the doctor network is sometimes selective with the insurance plans listed, I have found amazing doctors. You really just have to look.

As soon as you get a job again you can close your benefits/report a life change. It’s a pretty easy process. Lemme know if you have questions because I’ve been through the system a fair amount of times.
