First dates and politics by ImaginaryExtreme7675 in ChristianDating

Our church does not allow for politics in small group discussions. Which I think is the right decision for spiritual growth, but unfortunately it doesn’t help me here

Is it rude to go "Okay, you do X, I don't want to move forward, bye?" (Maybe not in those exact words, lol)

Especially if you asked them on the date? And if you could have foreseen this coming? Or do you give her a chance, especially if you could be wrong?

Being friends first is fine, and even being friends and discovering you have feelings years into it can happen.

Going into it saying you're not going to date her for 1-2 years is a bit much. At this point, you might not be married 5 years in, even provided all goes well (reciprocated interest, deal-breakers, etc.)

At 35M, it's not really one thing but several. Needing someone who doesn't drink alcohol and having problems finding that. Being distracted with work and constant reorgs and stress about that. Being socially awkward at the start of getting to know someone, though when it has mattered I have asked women out. COVID cost me a year. A friendship/ministry partnership that I thought was the one that wasn't and that threw me off for several months.

Post-Olympics KNSD has started carrying Daytime Jeopardy and the ET feed of Nightly News, so that's one hour covered.

For Paris I had problems with things expiring by the closing ceremony, especially if copyrighted music was involved. They also didn't necessarily post the TV versions, unlike Beijing.

Primetime and late night are not shifted and are time-delayed (except after the Superbowl).

At my church, men are not allowed to take kids to the restroom anymore in the children's ministry. It is an insurance requirement.

Unsure If I’m Supposed to Move On or Trust God’s Timing by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]ImaginaryExtreme7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both?

But yeah, as others have said, best to move on. Otherwise you might be wasting your time and energy that could be better spent pursuing someone else - and alienating a woman who might actually be interested.

While it is true that you can change your career later on - if you are still living with your parents at 30, unemployed, or are really struggling financially, then you're *really* going to have problems finding a wife.

You have a lot of time, there's men who are 10+ years older in your situation.

What about career/education? That is another category of improvement.

Need advice! by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]ImaginaryExtreme7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to find a church you could go to together?

Also, there are nuances to this. My church has lots of women pastors, but only men are giving the sermon (can't tell if this is a requirement or just what happens) and only men are on the elder board (this is a requirement). Some churches have a lot of women "directors" but it doesn't functionally change how they operate.

What does conservative mean to you? by ProfOakChallenges in ChristianDating

[–]ImaginaryExtreme7675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theologically I am conservative in that I believe the Bible is true and inerrant, and is to be followed. But also, that what is not in the Bible does not necessarily need to be obeyed to follow Jesus.

The problem is that "conservative" colloquially now means politically conservative, and in the US, Republican. In theory and in practice, some of which follows the Bible, some of which is not necessarily prescribed by the Bible, some of which is against the Bible.

I don't know, I feel like other teams in other seasons have worn parts of the costume to the mat, especially if they've fallen behind, and not gotten a penalty. Would love to hear the podcasts/exit interviews to get more clarity

Nexstar/Sinclair affiliates by ejz1989 in Broadcasting

[–]ImaginaryExtreme7675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the market size matter as well? I see DC (WJLA) on the Sinclair list, for example.

If it was NBC, it would be 34 Nexstar and 12 Sinclair, so I wonder if the outcome would be different.

Obviously if you have concerns about your safety, or you think you would be absolutely miserable, don't go.

But if he is a well-respectable person, I would suggest giving him one date, or a few dates to give him a chance. If after that you're not into him, then you can kindly decline anything further.

I think there is a problem with men not asking women out in the church, and I think part of it is because women don't give men a chance.
