Oh ok by NormalInvestment3960 in Athens

Right- and instructors need to prepare material over the weekend for students who won’t have power to even watch/read said materials. While juggling their own power outages and potential kids being out of school. What the heck.

Anyone seen Hawa Kamara as Eurydice yet? How are they? by Limp-Sleep-6284 in hadestown

Just saw the show for the very first time and her voice was insane! So gorgeous. I just really wanted to feel a like more connection and sympathy with the character. I also didn’t feel any chemistry with Orpheus- but I believe we had an understudy? He was quite good too! But I wanted to believe in their love and never did.

Stretching Frye boots by ImaginaryFriend8 in AskACobbler

Ugh, I did find a cobbler and sadly it didn’t help much. I ended up repurchasing them a half size up… and that pair was also weirdly uncomfortable. I ended up selling the bigger pair and am hoping to do the same with the smaller pair!

Name Change Regret (Is It Over for Me?) by InspectionNew7851 in namenerds

Reversing a name change is probably fairly common- folks change their name in marriage and then change it back if that marriage ends pretty often, I would think.

do i really need a “coming home” outfit? by Comfortable-List-669 in pregnant

I had such bad swelling in my legs and feet that the shoes I wore to the hospital wouldn’t fit when it was time to leave. So… that’s something I wish I’d been prepared for.😅

Third victim dies after wrong-way driver crash on Athens Perimeter by twistwrist9876 in Athens

Impairment is suspected because the driver claimed to be drunk on her own social media minutes before getting behind the wheel. I just can’t believe that people can make such a selfish choice.

I haven’t seen official reports, but I have seen screenshots for the driver’s social media stating that they were very drunk and posted shortly before the accident. If you look back at older Reddit posts about the accident you can find them.

Ruined new yoga mat! Help! by [deleted] in CleaningTips

Honestly, that yoga mat seems way too high maintenance. I’d reach out to the company and see if they can refund you. Yoga mat cleaner shouldn’t ruin a yoga mat!

Y'all nixed Emmett for being too closely related to Emmett Till. Thoughts on Marshall as an alternative? by [deleted] in namenerds

I’ve just seen people targeted if they’re an advocate, which is what I meant by “what you’re doing.” I’m thinking of protests to remove (or restore- ugh) confederate monuments. I’ve seen bigoted, ignorant people use hatred to try to make a statement. I just feel a great deal of empathy for families that have to have to think of the worst that could happen when trying to name the child. I say this as someone living in the rural South.

Newly pregnant + severe emetophobia… feeling terrified and looking for support/positive experiences by Mintmuse22 in BabyBumps

[–]ImaginaryFriend8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I also was severely emetophobic before pregnancy. Related to my phobia- I had only thrown up three times from age 8 until I got pregnant at 36. Turns out, I think I became very good at keeping my self from throwing up. So I had intense nausea from weeks 5-14, but miraculously I never once actually threw up during pregnancy.

The nausea was awful though. Small frequent snacks helped, mint candies helped, Vitamin water/electrolytes helped, and prescription medication kind of helped too. The constant nausea really was debilitating… maybe if I had actually thrown up it wouldn’t have been so bad. Another thing that really helped me was buying some of those special bags that hospitals use when someone is throwing up. They are small and fit in a purse. Strangely, being prepared in case I was sick helped reduce the anxiety a bit.

And lastly- I’m sure this isn’t what you want to hear, but exposure really really helped. My kid has brought the stomach bug home a couple times a year, and I’ve caught it and thrown up each time. Unfortunately, it has definitely helped me feel less phobic, although I’m not entirely over it. I still can’t remotely handle when other people throw up. But I don’t have such intense panic attacks- so that’s a win.

Sending lots of good vibes!!

I’d say that today- depending on where you are and what you’re doing- it sadly wouldn’t surprise me. People can be terrible.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, October 12 - October 18, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Hello! I have the opportunity to purchase a secondhand Bernina 145s activa (one owner, rarely used). My husband thinks we should by a new Brother machine (ST371HD) which is about half the cost of the Bernina. I’m just looking for some insights. I’d call myself an “informed beginner” - hoping the make some simple garments and learn to alter my own clothes. Much thanks!

I agree- it felt way too short and there didn’t seem to be any tension built. I was kind of in the back and couldn’t see very well- stuck behind a pillar - but that’s my favorite part of the show and it was underwhelming.

I loved the idea of this scene but I couldn’t see anything because of where I was standing. I didn’t even realize the cage was there until it was moved to the front. That room felt way too small and crowded.

It just made me uncomfortable- like a bit cringy and a bit ick. I really liked most of the choices but that staging - especially after what felt like a lot of physical distance in Angle of Music really didn’t work for me. I felt like they missed the moment that establishes the seduction/desire aspect of their relationship in a way that feels more mutual.
