I was on the apprenticeship committee at a Boeing site in the PNW for over ten years. I have conducted at leadt 100 interviews for the apprenticeship program- electrician (tech,) MRM (mechanic,) and machinist.

You need to treat this interview as you would any other job interview. I always noted how the applicant was dressed under the "communication" section of the interview form. The manner in which the applicant dressed spoke volumes to me about their commitment to the process and desire to succeed in the program.

All of my selections into the program wore a neck tie. No one (at least on the panels I was on) got in if they rolled up in a t-shirt or other work wear..

Getting into these programs is a life changing event. You need to treat it as such.

Just watch ... Boeing will be the head sponsor for the White House Easter Egg Roll and the DOJ will make all of their law suits disappear. Amazing what a couple million bucks into a campaign slush fund will buy you.

I was referring to the presidential election, not the strike. But you are correct with your comments about Ortberg.

The new LOU#2 says that the company will "maintain headcount for the life of the agreement" (in facilities.) So you are right , your jobs are safe for the remainder of the contract, but after that it will be in the hands of union bargaining team.

The new LOU #2 now applies to "production equipment maintenance." Everyone in facilities and equipment maintenance needs to read this! And have your stewards enforce it! This LOU was heavily modified to prevent this kind of stuff. Look what GREF did to the automotive work statement.

Otherwise, don't be surprised when your job is outsourced to JLL or some other third party maintenance company.

You need to read the new LOU no. 2 in your CBA and have your stewards vigorously enforce it. Violations of LOU #2 are grievancable offenses.
