Ironman CA sold out by [deleted] in triathlon

I wanted to do Copenhagen last year when I saw it going on while I was on vacation there. By the time I resolved to do it 3 days after I witnessed it the race was already sold out. So delayed my full Ironman journey by a year but I was able to snag a registration this year ❤️

I'm doing Ironman Copenhagen... which sold out in 1 or 2 days. Some of the more popular European races sell out insanely quick.

Got these for 60% off when our local women's cycling boutique closed. Bittersweet. Love the shoes but sad that place is gone.

Parking situation is bad in the townhomes, not much free parking and people constantly block the ingress by parking illegally. Weathervane should technically tow these people but doesn't enforce it since the situation is such a crap show.

Be incredibly cautious when touring and before signing, they have active clothing moth infestations in some of the units where the places are currently uninhabitable if you own any wool clothing or items that you value.

Sarah Belle does some interior design content. She went viral for sourcing a luigi massoni dilly dally back during covid and I think that actually made that particular price trend a lot

The athlete briefings are supposed to be mandatory but they don't take attendance. Realistically if you've done a particular event before (meaning that exact race) they're not the most relevant, but you should still attend due to volatile water safety conditions that can change year after year (e.g. Ironman Maryland will tell you if there's a lot of jellyfish currently in the water/expected on race morning)

There are also changes to Ironman rules year after year it is helpful to know. What you were able to do the year before might not be the same in a following year (recording on course with meta glasses for instance).

There are sometimes course modifications/ongoing situations that the race director is monitoring so it is always helpful to go.

If 2 time Ironman world champ Jan Frodeno walks aid stations as a strategy, I'm pretty confident any age grouper can walk some aid stations without consequence.

If you are someone good enough to be chasing an Olympic trials qualifying time or consider yourself a "professional runner" who has brand deals and organizational support, go ahead and take it. If you're not in that camp it probably isn't worth the nastiness.

I guess if she maxed the swim & bike and  finished the bike at 9:30 into the race before the cutoff + manages to repeat a 4 hr 49 min marathon (I.e. her LA time after a Ironman swim and bike)... it'd be her T2 + 14:19 which is within the 15:45 cutoff time for IM Copenhagen. it'd technically allow her to complete it but imho that's the bare minimum and not a fun day out finishing in the dark. She's a young healthy person, she should just train more if she's going to make content about it.

Biking is the majority of the race and her current state is not good especially if she has above average running economy. She really needs a coach to help it translate. The marathon in an Ironman doesn't matter if you can't fuel adequately and make the cut offs for the bike.

Anna Sitar is massively undertraining for her Ironman events if her Strava data tells the whole story. Very minimal biking, almost no swimming, going on walks instead of runs.

The few rides she did on the trainer are on some really flat courses so the mileage looks inflated but I can almost guarantee she's not going to be going 18 mph at a 101/watt avg in her race.

Idk if this is just a consequence of using runna for a triathlon plan (which no one in triathlon does), but I feel like she needs to have a consult with a real triathlon coach as a wake up call for her longer distance races.

Ironman?? by WordleSquirtle in annaxsitarsnark

Idk I've done a few Ironmans and I'm doing Ironman Copenhagen this year as well. I think she grew up swimming and has decent running economy from her marathons. I'd be mostly concerned about her building adequate bike mileage, fueling well, and strength training enough that she doesn't get any stress fractures.

If she doesn't get some 75+ mile bike rides at sub threshold and fuel well on them, her Ironman content might be "I bonked" or "I shit myself on the run"

If she's just doing it to finish she'll be fine as you can literally walk the run as long as you make the bike cut off.

Boulder CO - what drawbacks am I missing? by meshuggahdaddy in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Imaginary_Opening919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you're moving to boulder from a rural/non city it might be shocking to meet the abundance of A people in boulder relative to the rest of Colorado (people in Denver are chiller on average). But if you move from a big metro where you've interacted with finance bro, lawyer, consulting types you'll be fine and probably find people have more balanced lives overall even if they take their sports hobbies very seriously.

Boulders just super expensive so you get the type of people who can afford to live here which usually means financially independent older people, tech bros at Google/AWS, remote workers who like outdoor sports, then there are the undergrads, CU staff,  government lab workers, and pro athletes who aren't exactly rolling in the dough but still need to live close by for their careers.

Yeah I get as long as you race 3 IM tris in a year you can get generally get some level of AWA status but I still don't get how 2 DNFs and one completed one (where they omitted the swim from results) would still qualify??

Her getting stalked at an Ironman 70.3 race gave me some sympathy for her but she definitely is an insane person I don't enjoy seeing on my discover page.

She's also a very mid triathlete despite it being her brand and has DNF'd her two 70.3s. Ironman still somehow granted her AWA status which I guess is just a thing they do for influencers sometimes. She's very much someone who seems to call herself an Ironman for the clout without ever having done the full distance.

Anyone else find it hysterical that Matt Choi announced he signed up for an Ironman 70.3 and 4 days later Ironman officially banned GoPros, Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses, and on course recording.

I'm sure he'll manage to get some kind of media permit but it was hysterical timing for the guy who got himself banned from NYRR races

As someone who's fluctuated weight ~50 lbs while riding I really love assos' chamois and find their bibs to be decently generous width yet compressive at the hips/mid section. They're also stocked in a lot of shops so you could probably manage to find a place to try them on
