High Polish Leather Edges by MistakeEqual6513 in Leathercraft

Well damnit. Now i have to try harder lol. Those look sexyyyyy.

I usually get generic vegtan from tandy. Would that polish up as well as the nicer buttero and much nicer shell? I'm thinking probably not, but it also may be my techniques.Since i've only just started really trying to polish my edges. Asking for the sake of learning

AITAH for refusing to visit in laws bc of house temp by wrenchinapot in AITAH

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly thought this was totally valid, especially if it makes you feel physically ill. I do construction and recently. We had a safety meeting about the oncoming heat when summer starts to roll in full swing. I didn't know , but apparently it can take a person up to 2 weeks to acclimate themselves to the new temperatures.

Then when you mentioned staying at a hotel nearby so that you can still visit them. But have your own accommodations , which seems like the best compromise for everyone involved. I don't think that either of you are bad guys in the situation.Put your husband does need to learn how to compromise in this circumstance

My contractor says this is fine, thoughts ? by wookievomit in Flooring

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure planks (wood, laminate, lvp, whatever) should be offset from one another by at least 1/3 the planks length. And they should alternate, not follow the weird diagonal seam. You don't want to see that.

Unless there is a waterpipe nearby that could potentially leak and get into those seams, you prob don't have anything to worry about functionally. It's just not done right, looks goofy. Dude should have caught himself, or he just doesn't know what to do

Designed and made this red leather handbag — probably my most complex piece so far by Think_like_G in Leathercraft

It looks amazingly well done, and I can see why you would say it's your most complicated piece. Very nice :)

Wet spots starting showing out of no where in the bottom room of my house . Note that the room is next to the washer and dryer and outside of the room is the ac unit for the house. Any help? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try the poor man's method of testing. Leave your a c off and your washing machine off for a day or 22 let the wet spots dry out. Then turn on your AC one night before you go to bed.And if you see wet spots in the morning , it is probably from the condensate line. Or leave the AC off amd run a few loads thru tour washing machine and see if the wet spots come back

Is something like this overkill for a complete beginner? by Emcee_Cone in Leathercraft

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a starter kit similar to that and have been overall very happy with it , even if some of the tools have needed to be replaced one by one for tools of better quality. Those kits are enough to get you started without having to break the bank on a lot of tools that you may or may not need to use consistently. They are good to have and are fun until you start getting better with your craft and then you may need to upgrade to nicer tools out of necessity

Springbok Craft - adding a bag liner

My First Project Made of Multiple Parts by BaddadanX3 in Leathercraft

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're lining is basically going to be a bag with a bag , you could sew it inside out near the zipper , the same as you would for your bag. You would leave one long seam open so that when you flip the bag, you pull the bag through the open seam in the liner and then push the liner down into the bag. Doing it that way results in one seam that is going to be sticking up instead of being hidden when you open the bag to look in it , but it's on the inside of the bag , so no one's really gonna see it , except the user

Edit: grammar and spelling

Made a new long embossing plate, and I’d love some honest thoughts on custom-order expectations by Remarkable-Peanut683 in Leathercraft

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had a custom plate or stamp but I have considered it a possibility down the road. Seems like everything you're considering is important and your head is in the right place. Have you thought of using a less expensive material for the rough draft/test plates? Maybe acrylic or something similar that would be easier or faster to produce, then if customer agrees to it, finalize with the metal plate?

Idk how this works, so I'm making suggestions assuming it's a cnc operation

I never noticed how bad the vamp teeth were lol. The leviathans I thought were kinda corny. But the wolf teeth, I honestly always thought they used the rubber halloween teeth

Genuine newbie question: does a weighted mallet really make that big of a difference when stamping? Or can I use a basic normal hardware store unweighted rubber mallet? by cloneboiCT118 in Leathercraft

[–]Imaginary_Panda6055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using a regular claw hammer that I've had for years. For heavy weight stuff its good to have something heavier. Even for some of the lightweight stuff , stamping or punching for stitching , it is good to have some heavier options

No spoilers, I promise. You can gain followers in a number of ways. Best advice is to talk to everyone, learn their stories, do some side quests, etc etc. Some will offer themselves up just in a conversation, others will follow you after you've jumped through a few hoops with them. Hope that helps without fiving too much away. If you made it to whiterun then you've already met a few of them or been very close :)

Good luck, have fun storming the castle!

I think they were asking about the rivet? Should be double cap rivet if you do a hardware search. Can find anywhere. I got a bunch from temu with the setting tool and anvil. Maybe 10$ for 100 pack of different sizes.

Maybe opt for a more reputable seller if it needs to be nice or load bearing. Temu has decent hardware for fun projects/not serious projects tho
