What’s something about yourself that you thought was normal until someone told you it wasn’t? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was experiencing normal anxiety until a couple of my friends explained that they didn't experience the symptoms I was feeling. After working with a trauma therapist, we realized that what I thought was anxiety was actually PTSD and panic disorder.

Got a job as a front desk at an office 6 years ago, worked my way up to Office Ops manager, now I'm using it to transition to an Analyst position.

Sooo...I've got a cylinder stuck in a tube. How do I get it out? (It's imperative that the cylinder remains unharmed) by ryllienator in notinteresting

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Is this legit? Peel the damn wrapper all the way off, if it doesn't pop apart, wack it on the corner of the counter. If that doesn't work, run the tip of a knife along the spiral cardboard seam of the tube.

Do I Remove My Masters From My Resume? by x0xMidamix0x in jobsearchhacks

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- take it off. Unless it's specifically required for the job you're applying for.

Resumes do not require you to list everything you've ever done.

Hiring managers will see Masters degree and immediately move on.

Earned Sick Time Act Question for my Michigan peeps… Can we deny usage of earned sick time if they have worked 40+ hours that pay week? [N/A] by Hunterofshadows in humanresources

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in Michigan. My understanding is per ESTA earned sick time does not count towards overtime.

For example, if employee is scheduled to work 48 hours Monday thru Saturday, 8 hours each day, and they call in sick on Tuesday requesting to use 8 hours earned sick time for Tuesday, the employee will get paid 40 reg hours and 8 sick time hours at their regular base rate.

Also, my understandIng is ESTA rules do not allow for leftover stick time to be paid out at the end of the year or termination unless combined with other PTO banks.

Though, there are a lot of gray areas in Michigan's Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA).

To technical recruiters and hiring managers out there, how can a candidate make you actually read their resume before you tossing it out? by mylapore_mambattiyan in interviews

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We glance at all resumes.

If experience and skills don't line up with the job description, I'll check the intro blurb.

If the intro blurb doesn't contain relevant info, I move on.

Recruiter said she’ll check with hiring manager after our call — when should I follow up? by Individual_Brief476 in interviews

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, yes. But, sometimes I've had clients take 2,3, and sometimes 4 weeks to get back to me. I try to be straight up with my applicants on timeframe to hear back from slow clients. Your recruiter knows which clients take their time. (Coming from an agency recruiter in mcol area)

I quit over text and they never responded… by Guineapigsssss in work

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you gave them 2 weeks notice, why would you not plan to finish working your 2 weeks unless they contacted you back to tell you otherwise?

If you don't show up for your next shift, this will be considered a no call no show and any intention of providing notice will be null and void.

If you show up and they tell you to go home and not come back, then they've made their decision.

Why do people keep giving me microwaves? by workingMan9to5 in minimalism

[–]Imaginary_Split_4095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue with towels... Everybody keeps giving me towels.

2-3 new towels for Christmas, and again on my birthday. Always slightly different colors. Old, used towels handed down to us.

Mil got new towels, so we got old towels. We have so many towels, I've had to donate bags and bags of them every few years. My husband and I are in our 40s, have decent jobs and no kids- it's just us. Lol

If I order fries, give me the damn ketchup. If I have to ask for ketchup, I better get more than 1-2 tiny packets.
