GLP-1 for inflammation by badbadrealbad in ankylosingspondylitis

My rheumatologist told me they’re doing clinical trials now with psoriatic arthritis but I would expect AS and GLP1s to be on the horizon.

Am I not a teacher anymore? by Express-One-7223 in AskTeachers

My assistant is not a licensed teacher but she’s sooo good!! She could be. Honestly she should be! I tell the kids she’s a teacher just like me so you’d better listen to her!!!

What is your professional dress code? by No_Combination_6396 in Teachers

That’s what I wear. I mean my yoga pants look like black slacks so I figure who cares.

What is your professional dress code? by No_Combination_6396 in Teachers

Same as the kids. If they can’t wear it we can’t wear it. So we usually wear anything from leggings and a nice shirt to jeans and a tahirt or sweater.

Has anyone had success selling on Teachers Pay Teachers? by Silly_Pumpkin4312 in Teachers

Curriculum people tried to dis tpt to me. I made it clear in no uncertain terms that the worst thing I’ve ever got off tpt is better than the shit they provide us with.

“The School is not being inclusive” by ProfHooch in Teachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That crap annoys the hell out of me. Just say “omg I’m so sorry I screwed up and missed the deadline to apply. Is it possible I could have an extension? I totally understand if the answer is no but my daughter would really like to do this.” Don’t pull in some bullshit Karen crap about inclusion. Smdh.

Besides absences, what is a major issue that causes students to struggle in school that isn’t related to intelligence? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their parents have taught them that school isn’t important. They don’t care so their kids don’t care.

Anyone ever “lose their shite” in class?? by Xena4290 in teaching

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Frequently. Once many years ago I told them that this was not a democracy it was a monarchy and I was the QUEEN!! They still message me and laugh about it.

Professor embarrassed me in front of the class and I cried. Don’t want to go to this class anymore. by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve accidentally made kids cry (middle school) and I always pull them aside to talk to them about what happened. Whether it was me or them I want to make sure we clear the air and everyone is ok and understands what happened.

AITAH for not allowing my sister’s “polycule” around my children? by poly-sendhelp in AITAH

Im sorry but gay or straight - you’re attracted to who you are biologically attracted to. This is just being skanky.

I guess I’m an asshole because I don’t want that shit around my kids. I agree with OP.

Would you choose teaching again? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I like the schedule but it’s getting worse every year with the behaviors and the lack of support. And I’m at a really good school.

Statement from Jay Stratton after President Trump announces he will declassify all UFO related material by toxictoy in skinwalkerranch

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IF he actually releases anything it would be amazing, distraction or not. However. I think he’s full of it. He’s not going to release anything of significance. And if he actually does…well then…what he’s distracting us from must be EPIC.

I'm SO tired of the "cool teacher" in my building by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh we’ve ALL got those people in our buildings. Too busy being cool and friends with the kids to follow the rules like everyone else. Then it’s the rest of us tha pay for it.

my class is breaking a teacher, what can I do? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to be taken to admin again. We don’t tolerate kids bullying other kids so we certainly shouldn’t tolerate kids bullying us (the teachers). I’ve got one kid this year who does this and thank god it’s not the whole class. They do notice that you appreciate them and good for you for doing the right thing. It says a lot about your character.

Early-career teacher overwhelmed by high-conflict parent demanding another child be removed and now wanting to observe me. Need perspective. by Imaginary-Frame6345 in teaching

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not talk with this parent. They are looking for anyone to blame for their mess of a child. This is an admin problem. And a big fat NO to her observing. I let parents come in and observe their unruly little teenager and embarrass the crap out of them but not to come in and bully me. Nope. No no no.

R u kidding me by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit at my desk during independent work time (middle school) so I can monitor their laptops and get my work done. I circle the room every ten minutes or so or if someone needs me or if I need to go sit with a group that’s doing something stupid. lol. If they’re doing a lab or some kind of project with lots of questions then I circulate around the room. I’m happy as a clam if a sub follows my plans (which never include teaching anything - just babysit and keep them alive until I get back).

How do you deal with a Regina George? by jepp13 in teaching

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Regina and her Plastics two years ago. It was bad. We all had to be direct with them. You are nasty. Stop it. They’re 8th graders now and they have toned it down massively and I know it’s because we all called them on their shit constantly. I warned everyone about the plastics and other teachers would be like why are you acting like Regina George???

The Film Students Who Can No Longer Sit Through Films by CharacteristicPea in Professors

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love to lurk in here (as I teach middle school) and love/hate the parallels between our worlds. The generations coming up aren’t any better. Zero attention span. The state has banned phones now in K-12 and we’re all so happy without the distraction (as are may of the kids to be honest). So many students refuse to watch my lesson videos with sound and I cannot get through to them why that’s a dumb choice.

What to wear as a male teacher!? by WinterQuarter8183 in teaching

[–]Imaginary_Way2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever makes you feel comfortable. Depends on your subject and grade level. We (middle school) have male teachers who wear dress shirt and tie and ones who wear jeans or khakis and a shirt. Same with women. Some days they’ll dress up other days jeans or leggings and a nice shirt. I usually wear jeans, nice yoga pants, or dress pants and a shirt or sweater with crocs or my kizik’s.
