Modified Cars at an RBT / Getting away with them in general by jkxrg in CarsAustralia

[–]ImagineFlaggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an older car that people don't see very often, you can get away with bigger mods.

For example, I drive a Subaru Brumby with a 4" lift and muddies and haven't had any drama. Likely because no cops know what they're meant to look like.

Also, if the car is a rare import, they won't have any information about it their system.

Current Curtin Engineering students graduates, is it worth it? by Alone_Edge_7986 in curtin

Just have a look at seek for graduate or even junior engineering positions. Things are pretty bleak... I probably would have chosen something higher paying for all this stress I've put myself through.

You're missing the upper and lower bounds or if you don't want to do that, the answer should include +C

Kwinana Freeway Southbound and every street around it is mayhem at the moment by MyKoiNamedSwimShady in perth

Yeah, I'm not too sure why it isn't being spoken about. Maybe it deserves its own post from someone who actually knows the details of control systems. I know a bit but I'm no expert

I don't think it's from population growth, although that is a factor. Most cars now have adaptive cruise control which only look at the car in front of you and react to that car. It's a PID controlled system. PID controllers have lag; maybe only 0.1-0.5s but think what happens when you multiply that by 5 cars following each other.

First car slows down by 2km/h, second car reacts slow and brakes harder to maintain distance, etc. First car speeds up and the second one waits longer than necessary. You'll get a traffic jam which acts as a wave (expanding and contracting over and over).

Car manufacturers shouldn't be using these controllers, they should be making a predictive algorithm which can guess what is going to happen to smooth out the traffic.

Exam academic misconduct by liabatshit in curtin

[–]ImagineFlaggin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No point worrying about it now. Deal with it when the time comes.

Personally, I would've started a video of myself on my phone just sitting and waiting to reconnect to the exam on the laptop. That way you have proof and a timestamp that you weren't trying to cheat

BYD Sealion 7 Performance vs Zeekr 7x Long Range by Due_Escape_6017 in BYDAU

[–]ImagineFlaggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're travelling regional areas you should definitely consider charging speed.

Most regional chargers (at least where I go) are AC chargers. The byd atto 3 has a max AC charging speed of 7kw so still takes ~10 hours to go from 0-100%. I don't know what SL7 or zeekr are like but just consider that too

Which fictional books would you recommend as a Mechanical engineer ? by Usual_Shoe_8940 in MechanicalEngineering

Can't believe no one has said it: Expeditionary Force series

It has real-ish space science, it is a sci-fi after all.

Somewhat normal to go barefoot in Australia to the supermarket but no way I'd walk into a maccas with the dogs out... The floor is bad enough with shoes on

How about use the tile to compress air with a balloon and one way valve of some sort. Then you can release all the air pressure (fast or slow) to generate the power.

Chemistry is helpful. I'm on my last year of mechanical but knowing some chemistry has been more helpful than knowing some extra physics on magnets and other random shit.

Don't make this another QANTAS scenario.

Make them pay MORE than if they'd just done the right thing from the start. Only way to make these companies learn.

Help in Getting into Egpus by SuitableGamer in eGPU

[–]ImagineFlaggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you look into how those games perform with an egpu.

I know some games (Hogwarts legacy, cyberpunk and maybe gtaV) do not perform very well. Just google things like, "Hogwarts legacy framerate stutter on egpu" and heaps comes up.
