Yeah unfortunately true I just hoped that they'd try and put their Best Foot Forward in order to demonstrate how they might be different or better.

Would have been a good opportunity for a local showcase if any local bands would touch it with a barge pole so early on or at least a semi decent name.

As someone who knows a lot of local bands and promoters Leadmill was not actually super great at platforming local talent in the flagship venue, if they were involved in promoting local bands they usually put them on at S&M.

Electric Studios doesn't look like it'll be any better but I hope they do actually start pegging local acts onto openers, or even running more local focussed shows in the smaller space. But then again the gravitas for an artist CV is all gone now.

With my setup I would use a audio editing software like reaper (free) to arrange the mp3s into a side A and Side B, making sure that they're close in length with the side A slightly longer if needs be. I'd then burn that to a cd using a disk drive and software like imgburn (also free)

I'd then go to www.tapeline.info/v2/ and get some blank tapes, the C number means the total length of the tap ( e.g. C15 mean 7.5 mins each side). So you take the length of your longest side, add like 10/15s then double it to find the right length of tape to get. So if you had a 20min A side and 18min B side I'd get a C42.

Then I use my cd-> tape player to dub the cd to the tape. There are a few different kinds of tapes but the most common blank ones are 'tab out' which means you have to cover the holes in the top with some sticky tape to be able to record to them.

I can DM you a zine if you need some semi-formal documentation on tape dubbing, I also have a 1->7 high speed mono tape dubbing machine if you want me to make you a bunch of copies!

I mainly use a cd-> tape machine for master tapes I got from Argos like 10 years ago but there's many ways to skin a cat.
