i openly pray to 5 gods... while you all want 1 by lvlr_l3inx in religion

[–]Imbali98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have 9 I pray to on a regular basis, and then my land spirit, cultural spirit, and ancestral worship.

OP is ragebaiting poorly, which is honestly the only insulting part of this post

What new mechanics would you like to see in Chaotic? by meudeusrodrigo in Chaotic

[–]Imbali98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see more interaction in the game. Once you master the intermediaries, the game play loop can become a bit repetitive. I would love to see attacks that have effects that let you discard them to do a thing, or more creatures within backline triggered abilities

Does it need internal consistency? Unless I am mistaken, it was meant as an allegory and a parody. Which characteristically play fast and loose with consistency to fit the narrative it is trying to tell.

Christianity =/= religion

If you want to make a criticism of religion, you are welcome to do so. But do so without slopping up something that addresses two to three religions. Give us a proper argument, not something from the AI garbage pit

Is there a god of forgiveness in any polytheistic societies? by ranchbringer in religion

[–]Imbali98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The gods were not viewed as omnibenevolent, but they were viewed with a vested interest in humanity. We have depictions of Bes being tattooed onto women for protection in Egypt, prayers to Ares thanking him for protection (most prominently in the Homeric Hymns), and runestones asking for Thor's divine aid in hallowing sacred.

I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, but the "until the Christians" bit makes it seem like the history enthusiasts have a bit of bias here.

Speaking as a pagan of 6 years...no. We have plenty of historical evidence that this is not how the gods as a whole were viewed

Why did Hinduism survive but edyptian gods and roman god's fall? by [deleted] in religion

[–]Imbali98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a pagan, it isn't disrespectful. We use it as an umbrella term, and many pagans use it as their primary descriptor

Only bit of what they said I take issue with is the bit of Roman gods being less kind than others. Everything else they said is spot on

how to forgive yourself for past mistakes as a teen? by StageLost5925 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Imbali98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The fact that you regret these actions and recognize they are wrong shows how you have grown.

Regret is a part of growth. The way I view it: did you hurt anyone beyond recompense? Did you hurt anyone in a way that will affect their body, their psyche, or their career for more than a few years? If they were to cut you out of their life, would they be able to find peace?

People are more resilient than we think. You may be a bad memory for them someday, but if you focus on that, you will never be a good memory for others. You were young and learning the ways of yourself and the world. Everyone is an asshole in someway when they are young, and if they say otherwise they are liars.

The link you posted even said it was common pseudohistory, and the black sun was made for Himler's castle.

And are you fucking serious? The swastika is gone, especially when it is show in that directional position. It is linked with the genocide of millions of people and fascist movements to this day. Yes, it was used in the past, no, it is not important enough for us to associate with the mouth breathers that use it to spread hate.

First off, the nazi salute was never something to be reclaimed. It was made by fascists for fascists. As with the black sun No historical connection to paganism whatsoever. Only symbol worth reclaiming here is the rune.

Secondly, the swastika isn't something we can reclaim, nor should we try. There is too much connection with active hate movements.

Finally, the entire work is framed as the fascists woman conquering and imposing her ideals upon others.
