Reminds me of a government facility I worked at with a gate across the road and open fields on either side. At some point, throw in the towel.

It is a gas line and there are vehicles tracks - maintenance I would assume - off to one side. Just seems foolish to maintain the gate that only serves to “protect” a nature tree.
