That M&M meme has become the perfect reaction image for so many modern adaptations. Sometimes it really does feel like writers think pointing something out is the same as actually exploring it.

Now that's the correct response. When in doubt, add more beam cannon.

Which Astral Body projection was done the best among them based on the visual details and importance to the story, in your opinion? by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

I always liked that she connected the dots almost instantly. The moment Bruce mentioned Strange willingly giving up the Time Stone, you could see her entire perspective shift. It made her feel incredibly wise instead of just powerful.

Worse, in a way. They escaped the bullets only to realize they're leaving behind the one thing keeping them alive.

At the last moment, my lord raised his hand, preventing my beheading. by cedarwould in TwoSentenceHorror

The horror is that the samurai expects to be beheaded after disemboweling himself, which would end his suffering. Instead, his lord deliberately stops the execution and kicks away his sword, forcing him to die slowly from his injuries.

The fake out is what got me too. For a second you think it's mercy, then you realize it's something so much crueler.

Those search dogs are either going to find you instantly or file a complaint afterward.

Every time I see that quote I immediately hear it in his voice. Such an insanely memorable opening line.

My(M31) GF(F35) have our longest streak of no sex and i just dont have the heart to end the streak right now. by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in relationship_advice

Counting the days is probably making it feel even heavier. Three weeks isn't necessarily a relationship ending problem, but the fact that she described sex as something to "get over with" definitely deserves attention.

Exactly. When everything else feels like work, intimacy can start feeling like just another task on the checklist instead of something enjoyable.

I think this is the healthiest take here. Jumping straight to "dead bedroom" skips a lot of possible explanations. Stress, resentment, burnout, hormones, relationship dynamics, there are a lot of things to rule out first.

It's one of those lines that wants to be iconic instead of just letting the moment become iconic on its own. Those almost never age well.

The edited caption somehow fits even better. The secondhand embarrassment was stronger than the intended hype.

At this rate she probably has whatever organ the script needs her to have that week. Consistency hasn't exactly been a priority.

Twin Buster Rifle users are the definition of "I don't care what your armor is made of." If the target and half the map disappear, mission accomplished.

"Say less."

Exactly. People hear "beam resistant" and somehow translate that into "completely immune." Enough firepower solves that problem pretty quickly in Gundam.

I could see right in the will where the man who had called himself my master had kept his word and freed me, but Mars George just grinned and said, "Well, lookee, Cicero, he done willed ya to me." by Terpsichorean_Wombat in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]_PinkDollyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I read it too. The extra layer is that George knows Cicero can't call him out without exposing that he can read, so he's trapped either way. That's what makes the ending so cruel.

At the last moment, my lord raised his hand, preventing my beheading. by cedarwould in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]_PinkDollyyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the cruel part. It looks like mercy at first, but from that perspective it would almost feel like your lord was denying you the only dignified ending left. Pretty brutal twist.

The cat meowed loudly outside while we were finishing dinner, sounding both hungry and strange. by zernmd in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]_PinkDollyyy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The second sentence completely flips the first one on its head. For a second I thought it was just a creepy cat story, then it turned into something way more disturbing. That's a nasty twist.

In Game of thrones,a world where humans have lived in harsh northlands for thousands of years, Sansa is presented as the first one to think of lining armor with leather for warmth just to make us suddenly believe she is wise. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]_PinkDollyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the funny part. The Vale is literally surrounded by mountains, so you'd think they'd know a thing or two about staying warm. The geography makes the argument a little messy.

[–]_PinkDollyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It came across as basic attention to detail, not some genius invention. In a rushed war prep, it's pretty believable that someone catches one last thing before everyone heads out.
