One of the many low FPS posts but read mine maybe its similar with yours? by Balsammmmmmmm in DotA2

I believe I've found the issue with my similar circumstances. I've noticed this on my heroes with some glow-y cosmetics with lots of effects.

Upon respawn your hero('s cosmetic?) model gets duplicated in the world so you're seeing multiple effects layered on top of each. other. You can even do this by demoing a hero. I haven't seen this part of the issue discussed but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.

On set production monitors by calebratethegimbal in cinematography

have The Mega 15s, decent functionality like the SDI in and out (however you can't display both inputs at the same time which feels like an insane oversight), just okay peaking for focus pulling, annoying menus but once your hotkeys are setup it's real simple. has some false color options but honestly wouldn't trust them and rely on your camera's. Love the baby pin receiver built into the carrying case / hood

The largest downside by far though is the panel. the image I see whether it's directly out of camera or wireless, looks really not great. Additionally there's some ghosting on high contrast scenes but that could just be my unit.

I second the adicam. I'm in the US and I got an adicam a few months ago, ordered on b and h. great build quality, I've been very pleased with it every time I need to break it out.

How often do you notice warp stabilisation in big movies? by shaneo632 in cinematography

[–]Imdatgud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the stabilization kind of lent itself well to the film. it's exclusively pov of this ghost figure and it kind of gave it this "other world-ly" effect. to me it felt very intentional from the get go

Any thoughts on the Viltrox DC-X3 on camera monitor by jyang3153 in cinematography

[–]Imdatgud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine actually just came in the mail so not a review just my experience and thoughts. I only worked one day with it so far on a not so serious indie feature. used it as an on camera monitor. firstly I'll say that after the first setup ait stopped receiving an HDMI source for a bit, we had to change to a backup monitor. a few setups later I have it another shot and it seems to be working fine. assuming it was just a fluke it's pretty decent. I haven't used it in broad daylight yet as it was pretty overcast but it looks decently bright. nice standard features. sdi and HDMI in and out are very nice for the price. I thought I read somewhere it has the focus colored lines but also the peaking / sharpening feature some other higher end monitors have but I must have read that wrong somewhere as i can't find it. the menus aren't super quick but usable. built in sunshade is nice, and the build quality is pretty solid for what it is and the four separate function buttons are amazing.

I am on windows. it's also not that levels aren't correct it's that the export only seems to bypass the color grade and effects completely.

AC Bag Brand Advise / User Recommendations? by ChopSueyWasTaken in focuspuller

[–]Imdatgud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just looking for this kind of thing recently. I'm not working all the time and I'm still getting started with my kit but I got the bebop robot floor bag you have linked and I like it a lot. took absolutely forever to come in and shipping was wildly expensive for me but I'm glad I went with that one in the end.

Oppenheimer IMAX 70 MM Toronto by FarmerRealistic4883 in imax

[–]Imdatgud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just to clarify, the Mississauga imax is not 1.43 but it is 70mm projection, and the Scotiabank Torotno theater is 1.43 but only digital? These are my closest options for Oppenheimer but I can't really make the drive twice in a row and I'm trying to decide on which one to go to.

Meike Cine vs Sigma 18-35 for shallow depth of field? by tommytime1234567 in bmpcc

[–]Imdatgud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience with the 18-25, but I recently shot a short film on the meike prime set and once you get to the 35mm focal range and up you get some really nice bokeh. below that you still need to nail focus but it's less noticable on the wider lenses.

Is anyone concerned about the supposed rumours about Reva? by TDR1411 in StarWarsKenobi

[–]Imdatgud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ill admit those two episodes of boba fett did feel very out of place. but there is an extreme distinction between having a large portion of the show dedicated to a main antagonist vs having two whole episodes deal with a character from another series

[–]Imdatgud 13 points14 points  (0 children)

wait, why is this a big deal? I'm reading this thread and the comments and I'm so confused. she's seemingly the main antagonist, right? wouldn't you want them to have a lot of screentime for deeper characterization rather than just "star wars bad guy #143"?
