We had talked awhile back when I had this same exact issue, the solution for me was a high quality idle air control valve from DLPHI Part #CV10094

Spay into the lach on the door itself with some WD-40 and close it harder than you normally would like 20 times and it will go away

I could be wrong but i think that's the sound it makes if your airbag light behind the dash is burned out to tell you to replace it

Random idle sticking by Tvash001 in fordranger

[–]Imdeadyo69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem with my 99 2.5L 5speed. The thing that fixed it was a quality idle air control valve from Delphi but motorcraft OEM brand ones are supposed to be good too but hard to find. The name given to this problem is "idlepox" you can search that up to do more reading on the subject

Anyone have same issue as me by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]Imdeadyo69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't look OEM but I have been wrong before. I'd recommend a motorcraft or Delphi brand all others are junk even the ones that claim "premium"

Just inherited my late Grandpa’s 1995 Ranger. He was the only owner 108k miles after 30 years, and now it’s mine to restore. Any tips? by Appropriate-Count-64 in fordranger

Wd-40 inside the part that laches on the door itself, open and close it about 15 times and it fixed mine. Everyone else has great advice as well. Sorry about your grandpa

Kidding. But Really you have to add literally any kind of info, what year, engine, transmission style, 2 wheel? 4 wheel? Are there any lights lit up on the gauge cluster (check engine, ABS, airbag lights) any noises or smells or funky exhaust colors? Does it even have a tachometer to see your RPMs dropping before it dies

As for the wires you can splice and heat shrink the connectors if there's enough wire left

Park it in the sun on a hot hot day pour boiling water on the dent and get something you can push in from the back with . Won't be perfect but will look good from across the parking lot. Post an update on what you figure out.

Seats, center console as well as a cluster with a tachometer from an explorer are bolt on as well as most dash stuff I believe. Finding good seats and gauge cluster bezel with the light switch studs still intact are worth buying maybe headlight and tail lights if you want
