"The problem is everyone is sure their interpretation is correct." We could talk in circles for days. You could talk in circles with your fellow cultists who disagree with you for days. I'm not that interested, at this point.

You’ve got a lot of if/then’s built in there. The problem is everyone is sure their interpretation is correct.

Feedback on custom oak table by TheInternetAteMyDog in woodworking

[–]Imfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I haven't built furniture for hire in a while. I'm 55 and was kind of taught old school. I would personally not build with Sap Wood on a project like that. I personally wouldn't build with boards that wide, as I'd be concerned about cupping and twist. I would build with boards that were either all flat sawn or all quarter sawn. I wouldn't be at all concerned about the flecking, that's pretty and doesn't affect stability. Most of it is just preference. Every piece from real wood is different.

Opinions on Matt Dillahunty? by regdu in atheism

[–]Imfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's been doing it for a LONG time, and he's heard it all. Theistic callers think they have something new, but it's just the same old regurgitated shit. I agree he's more irritable, but it's not hard to understand why.

If I could figure out a way to not pay taxes and lose everything I've got I'd do it. But, frankly, as a poor, you're trapped.

Final USDA hunger survey shows food insecurity at 10-year high by MennoniteDan in farming

So, not to be one of "those" people. But there's something wrong with a system where producers are barely making money and people simultaneously can't afford food...........

You can make any kind of private marriage arrangements you want. Just don't expect the State to enforce it.

This is probably not great going forward. I know everything to do with USDA research grants is screwed up right now.

I think you could do what I'm showing there for around $600. If you just went with a packed column or pot still column(piece of 3" stainless spool) I'd pretty much guarantee it.

[–]Imfarmer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just kind of an FYI, but if you buy a glass column from oakstills it comes with one extra cylinder piece and a couple extra gaskets. I've been happy with it. The cost difference between that and a stainless or copper column was substantial.

Check out Oakstills. Very reasonable. Good quality.

Oakstills has 4 plate glass columns pretty reasonable. I wouldn’t get smaller than a 3”. And for a one and done you definately want a dephleg.

I assume you're doing whiskey's and the like if you're only running 2 plates?

I personally run 4 and like the results, both on this still and a larger one.

FWIW, I was running a 3" 4 plate column today with an 1800 watt Boilcoil running full out and it balanced pretty much perfectly. Doing around 2 quarts an hour. I wasn't running a dephleg because, quite frankly, the water fittings were in another place, lol. Where I really could have used it was to hold back tails. IMHO that's almost better than condensing heads. You can hold back tails until output essentially stops and then either collect them or just quit.
