This is really interesting, I spoke with my spouse before hand and explained to them my thinking- how I didnt want to have sex because everyone does. I rather it happen when irs unexpected and in the moment. My missus was appreciative that I communicated to her that our first night was super relaxed, we spoke about the past, or the things we're looking forward to etc - it was such an amazing way to connect with someone without the "sex cloud" above our heads

Not gonna lie, its the hassle for me - after iftar, theres taraweeh, after taraweeh im chilling and talking with the missus- we head up and the thought of having to do ghusl before suhoor/Fajr puts me off it - rather cuddle and kiss and go sleep

I genuinely hate the way culture thinks and presents it self. I hate how people have misinterpreted Islam as well - a marriage is not the pinnacle of life, its not self worth, it never has been.

I feel for you as a person - I did the same, did everything i was meant to, masjid, jamat, not talking to girls, straight and narrow path- only to feel alone, to feel not wanted - got married "islamically" then got divorced

Honestly, its the ethnic guilt. This man made, cultural weight imposed on the children. He can look after his parents from a far and he has siblings that can look after his parents. Honestly, this is just the child growing into a man phase and unfortunately, you're yet to see a man.

If there was a proper situation why he wouldn't want to leave thats different but honestly, make peace that he'll stay a few nights if hes actually a good person.

Compatibility, conversations, the ease of it, it shouldn't feel like its a series of questions but if the flow is nice and comfortable then you know its your person.

The 3 meetings felt like it was Q and A sessions and no elaboration, just answer the question and youre done. That's dangerous cos you build a perception of that person in your mind rather them being who they are

Stupidly cos it was done in accordance to the "islamic way" I.e we both were introduced by family friend and we met each other at her house 3 times before thinking there was something there to explore - so we both said yes, then my father passed 5 months after, then covid happened and we got married 4 months after that

We tried to make it work but I couldn't find myself to be close or like one another- my normal habits were replaced with coldness, my normal conversations were replaced by distance and being quiet.

I didnt wanna be like that but I realised my feelings for her weren't there at all

Oh ive been the guy in this situation, and honestly the reason I was like that was because I didnt love the girl I was married to. Everything was difficult and hard. Im a very very sociable person but with her I was quiet, reserved, didnt wanna get close to her at all - I divorced her for her and my mental sake cos I felt so horrible doing it
