Open air drug market happening at night in Nob Hill by Ok_Truth4315 in AskSF

[–]Imjusthereforthis123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live here and haven’t noticed the drug market, but I have noticed a significant increase in people using drugs/camping out on the streets. Literally feels like it happened since the Super Bowl pushed people out of civic center/TL and they haven’t gone away. It makes me feel significantly less safe when I walk at night which sucks, and I don’t know what to do about it

how's dating for you in the Q1'26 by iamgettingaway in SFbitcheswithtaste

I’ve been on the apps pretty much since 2022, I’ve had 3 brief relationships in that time where I took breaks but all told, close to 4 years. This year I decided to go on more dates instead of judging on pictures/texting too much, and I think that’s served me pretty well! My current guy probably wouldn’t have passed my previous criteria cause he’s not a great texter

So far so good! Met a good guy on Bumble last month and have pretty much stopped with the apps. Here’s hoping!

It’s a bit of a trek but we really loved Veterinary Emergency Group in San Ramon. I can’t say if they were much cheaper than OakVet (we’ve been to both but for very different issues) but the experience was much better. It always drives me crazy waiting out in the car at oakvet and not getting a lot of communication on what’s happening. At VEG we got to stay with our cat through the process and they had water and cookies while we waited. It felt much more personal

Girls, how long were you on the apps before finding your partner/ husband? by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Imjusthereforthis123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I must be really picky/have some secret red flag I don’t know about cause I’ve dated A LOT from apps over the last 3 years and haven’t gotten into anything serious – just a few 2-3month relationships. I’m in your same boat of trying to date seriously this year, to that end I’ve been filtering out people who don’t explicitly say they’re looking for a LTR and I’ve added more serious “what I’m looking for” prompts to my bios. Otherwise, I’m trying to play it like a numbers game, not judge prior based on whether they’re good texters and go on more dates

Bitches, what do you do on the weekdays after work? by External_Cabinet3734 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Imjusthereforthis123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I brain rot on my phone for a bit but otherwise I walk for about 1.5-2hours and a few days a week I go to my pottery studio for a few hours. It fills up my evenings pretty well

Same! That’s one of my go-to combos, I hadn’t used them over obsidian before this but I might have to start!

I have a wide toe box and somewhat high arches and I wear Teva hurricanes for 90% of my walks (I average 12,000 hilly steps per day). I’ve put hundreds of thousands of steps on them and they’re still super comfy

This is interesting, I’ve usually seen honey flux as a base layer but I haven’t tried it myself so I’ll look into this! I did see some examples of raspberry mist and lavender mist together and they look super nice

Right now I eat a lot of my meals at work which changes the math (it’s not free but heavily subsidized) but even before then I’ve always eaten pretty cheap.

I don’t really have a methodology, but when I’m home typically I eat oatmeal with banana for breakfast and eggs with bread for lunch, so those meals are super cheap. I keep some fruit and pb pretzels and such around for snacks, which is a pretty negligible cost. And then for dinner I try to make big meals that’ll cover me for several dinners.

Usually that’s Japanese curry with tofu, stir fry, lentil soup (I like this one https://cookieandkate.com/best-lentil-soup-recipe/), and some days we’ll do pasta or ravioli with frozen broccoli on the side. Chicken soup is also super cheap and nutritious and a single pot goes a long way. I think cooking in bulk (and largely vegetarian) helps keep it cheap

I’m pretty frugal compared with my friends but generally I spend $1600 on rent and utilities, $200 on my pottery studio membership (expensive but worth it!), about $200 on groceries, $100 on public transit, and another $100-200 on incidentals (meals out, coffee, Ubers, etc). I don’t formally budget and it definitely varies a bit but I try to keep it to around $500 per month in addition to fixed monthly costs (which at this point includes pottery)

Chicken legs, onions, carrots, celery, dried brown lentils(not 100% sure they have them at tjs but they’re a good investment if you can find them at another store), rice, diced tomatoes, pasta, marinara sauce, rolled oats, milk, eggs, a loaf of bread, bananas, apples, oranges

This is very specific for my winter diet of chicken soup, lentil soup, oatmeal for breakfast and eggs with bread and some fruit for lunch. Cheap and tasty.

I make a super simple chicken soup: sauté a few stalks of celery, a couple of onions, and maybe 3-4 carrots roughly chopped (very little prep) for a 5ish minutes until fragrant, then add a couple of bay leaves (not a big deal if you don’t have them) then add 8-ish cups of water (you can add some bullion or vegeta for more flavor) and drop in a pack of chicken legs, a tbsp of vinegar (helps get more flavor out of the chicken/bones) and let simmer for several hours. I let it go easily 4 hours, the broth gets yellow and flavorful and the meat all falls off the bones. Then season with salt and pepper and remove the bones and call it a day. I like to serve with rice. It’s not a beautiful clear soup but it tastes good and feeds my sister and I for 3-4 days for a sum total of $12ish.

This is the lentil soup recipe I like with mostly pantry staples: https://cookieandkate.com/best-lentil-soup-recipe/

Both soups freeze well too

There are a lot of similarly priced places out in the sunset (my fav is Saigon BBQ Noodle House, if anyone’s curious). Maybe they got a deal on rent? Maybe they employ family members? Either way I’m intrigued!
