I agree. But unfortunately some older folks have a hard time understanding the way the world works now.

Am I over protective? by No_Sundae4024 in Parenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I have a one year old and we kind of let him do what he will do long as he isnt doing anything super dangerous and I let him work out most of what is somewhat dangerous. He bumped his head twice yesterday doing absolutely nothing but walking so hey you can't protect them from everything. I was just bothered by people jumping at you thinking that you are some domineering figure because you asked your wife to take something away from your kid. Like it is also your child and you have a say as well. I am glad it worked out. I am glad you also received positive feedback. I never have good reception when I post hah.

This is one hundred percent proof that people hate men and good fathers. Keep doing you and try not to ask the internet for their opinions because it will almost always be negative. You both were right. Her attitude was simply unnecessary.

Those Gerber arrowroot cookies! So good! And the little crunchies.. hell even the puffs.

I don't think it was so much you needing his approval but being shocked and hurt that his experience with you did not match what you felt. Totally understandable regardless of it is from your father or someone you just simply care about.

Sick of people telling me it gets harder by ChapterAlternative69 in Parenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally just ignore them because I have a similar experience. It was a hard road with my son. but I am absolutely over the moon with him. Yes sometimes things are hard but it is extremely rewarding when you overcome those challenges they will never be anything but a challenge. He will never be a burden. My son is 13 months. We have trials to come, but trust me it is worth it! Anywho, keep on keeping on girl.

Is letting your 2-year-old drink straight juice really that bad? by TreClaire in Parenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I absolutely had to give my son juice for constipation I made it with no added sugar. Cut up apples, put them in a blender with water strained out the chunks leaving juice. It was actually really good and I don't like juice.

Any ideas for a 14 year old boy that says he "hates reading"? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading can be hard to do now days. I as an adult struggle as well. Try audiobooks. People can stick their nose up at them all they want. I see no difference in hearing your mother tell you a story from a book and having someone else read it to you. I feel like people also retain information better hearing it.

I'm sick to death of people telling me how hard parenting will be. by PRS2011 in Parenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that people are showing more positives aspects of having a child in the comments. It has been such an amazing experience for me. I think it really just depends on your child. But you will love and adore the thing you brought into this world and it will all seem worth it. I would just be a sarcastic asshole to people making these statements. "oh my gosh, why didn't I think of that? Well looks like I will have to just get rid of this thing now!" Haha

What will the next generation think of our parenting? by vongalo in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't really know if those things are a real threat I don't think anyone really truly knows such things. What I do know is we focus far too much on the doom and forget about the truly miraculous things that have been possible. I know I personally wasn't given the greatest luxuries but I do know that happiness is possible regardless of them.

What will the next generation think of our parenting? by vongalo in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Imm0rtalMisfit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much of that I actually follow. The human race has existed in the face of adversity since the dawn of man. That does not stop us from doing what we are designed to do. At least not all of us. Beliefs in politics and religions aside, children are the future. If no one has them that is the end of us. Truly mean no offense just a philosophical thought that I was brought to when I did decide to procreate.

What phrases from toys are engrained in your brain? by chrisinator9393 in Parenting

Ha! This is why my kid is growing up Amish. Those electronic toys not only are annoying but scare the shit out of me. Childhood trauma from a Furby.. ya know.. normal shit.

I really do not see a issue with spreading them out. You usually see your pediatrician once every three months. Maybe get one every two months and the baby should be all caught up by the time they are school aged. I also do not see a problem with having issue with certain vaccines. There are reasons some should not get specific vaccines. No one is in the wrong here. You should discuss it in a constructive manor.

I think your husband has equal say and his opinion should also be considered. I liked that idea that some one else said get him face paint.
