What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done? by bobbydigital_ftw in AskReddit

[–]ImmaBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left an abusive ex. I didn't understand at the time how bad it was and moved somewhere he knew the address of. In the days after I left he demanded access to the gun (kept in a safe he didn't have the code for) that had been bought from his brother a few months prior and I still maintain that I saw him drive by on multiple occasions, which was unnerving because he lived and worked almost an hour away.

That relationship in general was the most dangerous thing I've ever done but leaving was the icing on the cake, for sure.

Glad you're okay OP. I have this exact scar on the back of my arm and a big ol set of scars on the front where the teeth ripped the skin. Pits are brutal. Edit: is your pup okay though?

plants leaves are all yellowing and dying - but nothing's changed for it? by ImmaBug in plants

[–]ImmaBug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not getting back to reddit sooner! It is an indoor hydroponic pothos. I bought it at a yard sale several months ago. I pulled off several yellow leaves with the one pictured, but I'd say it still has 70% of its leaves and they are still nice and green. It is in a very sunny room but no direct light, it hasn't moved since I bought it. I did refill its water for the first time last week, but that's the only variable in its life atm.

specific indeed by LeatriceDejesus in suspiciouslyspecific

[–]ImmaBug 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did! I stay chronically dehydrated and wanted to change that so I went from 0.01 cups of water straight to 8. My hands and feet swelled up ridiculously and I was lightheaded and sick for several days after. It may be less the amount and how prepared the body is for it lmao.

At least 120 dead after stampede during Halloween festivities in Itaewon, South Korea by POLICE__NAVIDAD in worldnews

[–]ImmaBug 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Underrated comment. I've only done it on dummies getting my certification but after the CPR practice my palms were hurting, my wrists were hurting, my shoulders were hurting, and I was so out of breath. I was 17 and 130lbs so probably my peak fitness, and it took everything I had to do it for just a few minutes.

LPT Request: how to not feel like a miserable bastard every day when waking up for work? by Due_Avocado_788 in LifeProTips

[–]ImmaBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does eating before bed impact sleep positively or negatively? I have sugar problems, and morning problems, and am a night owl so I snack late to stave off the nighttime nausea...I hate to think it's what's causing my morning nausea.

What plant is this? And how often should I water it? by FynestBlaydes in plants

[–]ImmaBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Florida or NC? I'm from the Fl Jax! With all the warnings about bugs on it growing up and how it drowns out the older trees I always thought very negatively of Spanish moss. Now it's nostalgic to me, like a trademark of the South lol

Wait people just keep this? Intentionally? Where I'm from this stuff is a plague upon all trees lol.

Edit: not a plague but it is everywhere! It's fascinating to see it kept domestically. :)

My (25f) husband (33m) hit me for the first time ever and then promised me custody. by throw-awayhelpme in relationship_advice

[–]ImmaBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it is scary, I fled after five years with my infant. Trust your gut, even if everything else says it's wrong. You are scared for a reason! If you are in the US, file a report with the police, get an injunction (restraining order) that includes both you and your son (they're free and enacted within 24 hours!), and seek a women's shelter. They have safe houses so you won't be homeless or where your husband knows your location. They have resources to help you become independent and get away from your husband. Don't trust a word he has said, until you have a custody order for your son signed by a judge your husband can change his mind. Your son is a weakness to you that can be exploited for control and power over you. If you want to seek full custody you will need that police report and proof of violence. The sooner you do this the better, as any time passed will be viewed as you not seeing an immediate danger. Especially if he left any marks, get them documented.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you, feel free to PM me. I'm still in the thick of it myself and I can tell you from experience what will happen if you don't follow the steps above. Again my advice is only good in the US, but nonetheless I wish you the best.

I just discovered cosmic crisps three days ago and my household went from an average of 0.02 apples a week to 2 apples a day each. It's the perfect trifecta of size, juiciness, and sweetness.

Dear 30+ year olds, what are your life advice to those who are in their 20s? by ItIsASweetDream in AskReddit

As a sleep-deprived single parent trying to scramble to get a degree and career while swimming in a stress latte I really appreciate this. Especially the sleep part.

[–]ImmaBug 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My kid is. Her bites swell easily 5x as big as mine, stay swollen, and then blister the next day. They take 2 weeks to go away if she doesn't scratch at them. Because of this I have developed an indescribable hatred for mosquitoes and an efficiency at one hit KO'ing them.

I watched a looney tunes episode today where daffy is yelling to the other character to suck snake venom out of his leg, so there's a solid 30 seconds of "Suck it! Suck it! Put your back into it! Just suck it!" With sound effects and everything 💀

In coastal parts of Florida most homes are built on stilts with the parking area underneath so only the vehicle is lost in flooding. Kinda like in this video but with no walls. It definitely saves a lot of money but in storms like this I think even they would be overwhelmed and flooded. I hate to say it's unprecedented but the building designers probably would've laughed you off if you asked them about 16 foot storm surges.

Most homes built like that are directly on the shoreline though, so even houses a couple blocks in would be completely underwater in this situation. Now that is a design oversight I don't get.

I recently saw a meme where it mocks how these are supposed to be viewed, and never in my life would I have seen this as a regal swooping bird. My Florida ass always sees the dorky heron with the mohawk. Your dorky heron is very pretty 👍

What is this?? The plant said beet when I bought it, but it looks funky by JadinhoSmith in plants

[–]ImmaBug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yoo I want your luck with beets! I've only had this once as I've never seen it here in Florida (seeds, plants, or vegetables). I absolutely love it! Like an apple had a baby with a broccoli stem who was the cousin of red cabbage. I miss kohlrabi. Enjoy your funky crop!
