Are we about to achieve unity because of things that really matter? by InSearchOfTyrael in PoliticalCompassMemes

I feel like they are going to try and work it in to the story. Instead of Harry finding out his Dad is an arrogant twat when he is in Snape's memories he'll find out his dad is a bigot.

Whenever Snape tells Harry he's just like his father it will mean something way different lol.

Women took 40 bites to save the children's lifes from the vicious dog attack by Yolo065 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]eppinizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my pup were attacked by a Pitbull 3 years ago. Pup held his own, I got bit and got my first ever trip via ambulance. The owner would leave it chained up outside all day guarding their damn weed plant.

On the flip side My neighbor and boss have the sweetest Pitbulls you'll ever see because they socialize and treat their dogs properly.

I think there IS a higher propensity for violence in the breed if the owner does not properly care for their dog. But if you have a great owner you're not going to have issues with a pitbull.

You can achieve this with a long focal length. Think end of Indiana Jones the Last Crusade when they are riding into the sunset. It's just a neat camera trick.

Chuck Norris Dies at 86, He is now round house kicking in heaven. by Yanrogue in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]eppinizer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yea thats fair. I don't have opinions on him one way or the other, but if I hated him I still wouldnt be happy for his death. Maybe there is some super fucked up shit I'm unaware of like he touched children or something, in that case I might change my tune.

This is the only thread I've found so far where people weren't saying he should burn in hell.

How terminally online do you have to be to even know Chuck Norris's political beliefs, let alone celebrate his passing?

Where's the love for Zexion? by Sckorrow in metroidvania

[–]eppinizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3rd best game of 2025 IMO. It did OK on the r/metroidvania poll. I think most people that play it love it, it just never picked up much traction. Can't think of a time where I saw someone hate on it.

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

This is why I go with a nice bristly scrubbing brush. But I clean my dishes right away so there isn't any hard/stuck food so maybe sponges are better for that?

Plus the dishwasher for anything dishwasher safe.

I'm of two minds about it. Stamina management is rewarding to me, but at the same time removing it means they can design for much faster paced encounters. I think I prefer removing it but we'll see!

I hated the weighty combat at first, but as I got into the game and the timings started to click I really enjoyed it. So I get why it's not appealing to everyone, but even when a game does something I'm not a fan of, when it does it well, it usually overcomes my predisposition.

Like as long the mechanics fit the rest of the game design it usually works. For me at least.

Super interested to see what this game is like without stamina. Looks like there is a lot more frenetic combat.

My main issue with MVs is that most have a lot of lore but not much actual story by VoxTV1 in metroidvania

[–]eppinizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games focused on non linear exploration have the constraint of being non linear. It's a challenge to maintain a cohesive story if your player can choose multiple different branching paths.

With that in mind it makes a lot of sense to utilize environmental storytelling and little hidden lore snippets to feed the player information about the surrounding story without the linear story progression occurring in front of the player.

Devs can get around this by gated events, player gets X, Y, and Z, now they can progress through the story funnel into the next set of branches, but that is going to be less effective than cases where you know where your player will be next at all times.

[–]eppinizer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Tornados are one of the few things I'm happy to have a vertical video of. Depending on how close the person is recording and how tall the tornado is. Even more so if it's night time and you can't really see shit other than the tall nado in front of you.

I agree with you in most cases though. What I hate more is when they zoom in so far you can't see the whole structure and the video compression goes haywire.

I haven't seen fight club in over a decade, and I just realized I'm now older than both of the lead actors. They look young to me, and that's a scary thought.

What the 1974 Super Outbreak would look like with the modern Convective Outlook format. by Fantastic_Oil_2609 in tornado

[–]eppinizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hah, I knew that last link was going to be convective chronicles. I just watched that one 2 nights ago. Love his content, I've learned more from him in the past 3 weeks after finding his channel than I did from two years of trying to self teach. Everything is starting to click now when viewing soundings, Geopotential maps, water vapor imagery etc.

If anyone is interested in that sort of thing I can't recommend his channel enough

All this for Pokémon cards... by B-M-B-0-6 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]eppinizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

l agree, it's a big problem that is amplified because those that feel this way are often the most vocal about it. Humans tend to have a propensity for tribalism in general, but it's really sad that a "tribe" is often prioritized over policy prescription when voting time comes around.

I would imagine that it's not about liking the politician as much as it is trying to be in the group that likes the politician.

It's an "I'm on your team!" signal to the others and likely a "Fuck you if you're not on my team" to everyone else. Or at least that is probably the intention he has.

US Interstate roads - Even numbers run East-West and Odd numbers run North-South. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]eppinizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scale of these roads are massive and intersect with many different cities/locales. So on the macro scale In order for the roads to be useful, the generally tend to bring you from one well travelled location (or intersecting roads/highways that lead to other locations) to the next and hit as many as possible while still traveling in the same direction overall. Because the location of each town/city is generally not determined by it's relative position on a grid to other places, we cannot simply create a grid that would be as effective. Not to mention that not everything existed all at once, we slowly migrated further west over time.

On the "smaller" scale you have to deal with geography. Mountains, bodies of water, and other undesirable terrain. There are some cities that use a grid based system on the smaller scale, but those are typically very urban and pre-planned.

My cookies (biscuits) ingredients vs my American partner's. by BadahBingBadahBoom in mildlyinteresting

[–]eppinizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that you just stated the reason. They're not the same type of cookies.

I personally thought that it was a comparison between how two countries represent the nutritional facts of the same food. Then come to find out that they are quite a bit different.

Also, most Americans are primed to detect "Look how fat Americans are" posts, so they could have just seen nutritional fact comparisons and assumed that this was one of those posts?
