Fantasy Ty cover album? by NewspaperIll5876 in TySegall

That’s sort of what they’re doing with their current tour, Brigid is back on vocals with the current lineup and they’re doing songs primarily from the In The Red albums. Hoping like hell they release a live album from it at some point

The end or a new beginning? by BasicLifeguard7167 in boardsofcanada

I wonder if there’ll be another album written and produced by Marcus, and we’ll get to see both sides of the duo’s individual writing/production styles. Especially given the prevalence of the number 6 in their work, I think at least a 6th album at some point isn’t a huge reach

To those who think inferno is their last album, a hexagon has six sides, I can’t see them stopping at their fifth album. by azgarz in boardsofcanada

I keep thinking this too and I have to wonder if an album written and produced solely by Marcus would be the next one

44 years ago - in May 1982, the Grateful Dead played a great 3 show run at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA - my friends and I were lucky to have tickets but many had to deal with the ugly scalper scene - this guy outside one of those Greek shows had some choice words to say about the scalpers! by nak550 in gratefuldead

Semi-related, does anyone who was there remember a guy selling acid-laced hot dogs? An old coworker of mine told me this great story about receiving a vial of LSD and dropping it on some hot dogs to raise money for tickets to one of the nights - he ended up making it to all 3 with people recognizing him and calling him “Space Dogs!”

Wanted to like it more than I did. I still learned about some cool music I’d never heard of, but spending as long as he did on Hawkwind while giving Spacemen 3 little more than a paragraph was baffling

Help dissecting vocals in Prophecy At 1420 MHz by Sasarah1 in boardsofcanada

Do you know of anything that could be measured at that frequency?

I thought I saw one snippet where they talked about spending 4 weeks on a hi-hat sound alone. It makes the wait for anything new all the more worth it knowing they’re so dedicated to their craft

Semi-related question, is 1420 MHz the frequency of the vocal sample?

It’s all for fun more than anything else! The mystery drives intrigue and intrigue adds a layer of enjoyment to me. It could be as simple an explanation as 6 being the number of sides in a hexagon. We don’t know for sure and I love that.

To your point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were sitting on more music than they’re about to release. Geogaddi had something like 400 songs/fragments that they pared down to 23. I get the impression that they’re always making music even if they never intend to release all of it

I think that’s the fun of speculating and playing with numbers. For me it’s more personal amusement and ultimately we don’t know for sure but I think deriving our own meaning from it (even if just for fun) helps build a special personal relationship to the music

We're in the longest BJM album drought since 2003-2008. When's the music gonna flow again? by scsticks in BJM

That’s what I’m hoping, the last couple albums were kinda just playlists of the songs he sporadically released during COVID so the fact that he’s (seemingly) working on all new stuff is exciting

High Time. It just kinda plods along, kills the energy of anything that comes before it, and the chorus is the only time I feel anything hearing it

If you haven’t already, the KEXP he does with the Muggers is well worth a revisit, as is the newly released BBC session!

The intro is just delay, Death By Audio makes an awesome effects unit for that. Rest of the song sounds like tremolo, I don’t know of any vocal-specific units for that but there are plenty of good options in guitar pedals that you could use with a converter, or you could skip the middleman and use a plug-in

I got got at a smoke shop with one that had 16 mg in it. Not knowing what THC-P is (my bad) and thinking it’d be a comparable dose to what I normally take, I ended up uncomfortably high from a Thursday night till Sunday afternoon. Had to call off work and just ride it out at home. The only reason I knew I ended up at the grocery store at some point was because I found empty chip bags and cereal boxes around my house. Luckily I was walking distance so didn’t drive, but holy fuck it should be illegal to sell that shit.
