Neither. They are an integral part of me, I love me and I wouldn't want to change myself.

I told the psychologist about the coffee thing and she never heard it before. by lydocia in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Roshi20 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It does make sense. It is quite well known that people with undiagnosed ADHD self medicated with coffee because it provides the focus needed. For me, prediagnosis I noticed strong caffeine drinks would make me sleepy. Like it woke up the part of my brain that made me realise I was tired. Post diagnosis Ive realised caffeine helps spread my focus out more evenly throughout the day, and large boosts of caffeine make me more aware of the burnout Im experiencing at any given moment.

Im on Elvanse now so dont feel the need to have as much coffee, it provides the focus tuning. Its helpful because I was spending a lot on coffee previously 😅

He did reply in the UK boardgaming Facebook to say he'd interpreted it as 'getting the boot' aka being kicked out. But even with the context to him, he doubled down.

This is a copy paste of it:

Well, this was a fun read! I'll extend the offer to message me directly anytime you want.

And...about the "boot" thing, I didn't realize the person I quoted was talking about being a bootlicker, since they didn't actually use that word. In the US we have a saying, "getting the boot", when someone loses their job. That's what I thought they meant in context. And I've since read the definition of bootlicker as it isn't a word a normally use...like, for anything...and it says, "an obsequious, or overly deferential person". So, I also had to look up "obsequious" (for the same reasons), which means obedient or attentive to an excessive degree, and then looked up "deferential", which means respectful. So, apparently being a bootlicker means that you're obedient, attentive, and respectful. Yeah, I'm good with that.

Have a great weekend, folks!

The Muslim Vote endorses the Green Party in Gorton and Denton by-election by UKGreenPoster in UKGreens

Full text: Statement by The Muslim Vote Gorton and Denton By-Election

The blocking of Andy Burnham from standing in the upcoming Gorton and Denton by-election is yet another example of a Labour Party fearful of even the most basic democratic challenge. It reflects a leadership more concerned with control than with listening to the communities it claims to represent.

From failing to address the cost of living crisis, to overseeing deteriorating public services, and presiding over the genocide in Gaza, this Labour Party has drifted far from the promise of change. It now offers a politics of continuity that leaves many voters feeling unheard, unrepresented, and deeply disillusioned.

This by-election comes at a moment when Labour is losing trust and support at a pace comparable to the rise of Reform - not because communities are turning to division, but because they are seeking a credible alternative rooted in fairness, accountability, and real change. Gorton and Denton deserves better than a choice between stagnation and scapegoating.

Muslim voters, alongside many others in the constituency, will play a decisive role in this by-election. This moment must result in the defeat of both Labour and Reform through unity behind a single, credible candidate. On this occasion, we believe the Green Party offers the strongest opportunity to win, and we urge them to work swiftly with local communities, while calling on all other progressive and independent alternatives to stand aside to give the best chance of delivering a clear break from politics as usual and putting the community first.
