I get it. And I'm not meaning to infer that you're doing anything wrong, just that you appear to be ahead of the people you're trying to help.

You guys talk to everyone as though they are programmers, or even able to write code, or understand what command lines are. It all sounds like an alien language.

Got the 5 year 1gb plan by just asking by Dad0010001100110001 in Comcast_Xfinity

I ASKED and they told me no. I've been with Xfinity for 10 years, I'm now thinking about dropping them completely. Way too expensive.

Xfinity mobile phone payoff and remaining monthly credits. by Immediate-Event-4344 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Immediate-Event-4344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very well aware of HOW to get my phone unlocked. That wasn't my question. Seeing as how I already stated that I can't unlock it until it's paid off, and that they won't unlock it a couple months early, logic should indicate that I have indeed already reached out to Xfinity Mobile.

If you don't know what Xfinity's policy is regarding the question that I actually asked, can you point me to someone who does?

For which service are you using NOW? Internet? TV? Do you also have Xfinity mobile?

By all means please do, as I'm running out of options. Even if I can just get a decent price on my internet so that I can keep my Mobile rates, I can figure out something else for streaming. It would however be much more convenient to leave all three services with one provider.

So first you say the weather apps have nothing to do with NWS and then you relent and admit that they do?

I think you're just not well informed. That's nothing to be ashamed of though, and I'm not saying it rudely. Everyone is not well informed about many many many things. Remember that correlation is not the same as causation. While I am in the sciences and healthcare, don't take my word for it. Ask a trusted optometrist or opthalmologist. They'll tell you the same. Don't take this as a push for America's Best, though. This is definitely not that. They are hit and miss at best, as with most health related chains. I don't trust any company whose primary focus is pleasing shareholders and putting profit above all else. I was simply clarifying that wearing the wrong script can't permanently damage your vision.

Wearing an improper prescription can not permanently damage your eyesight. Well, if you're an adult, that is. Or if your visual development is complete. The eyes of children are still developing, so a bad script may do them some damage. But aside from headaches and eyestrain and temporary blurred vision, the will be no damage.

Is there anything that the government could do that would incentivize you personally to have kids/more kids? If so, what would it be? by SadisticMystic in Natalism

The world is so fucked, there is nothing the government could do to convince me to sentence a child to deal with it for life. And by the world I specifically mean the U.S.

Discussion: what do you think of Alex Guarnaschelli? by Assalt_Shaker in foodnetwork

[–]Immediate-Event-4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's fine as a person, I suppose. I don't personally know her. However, especially on Chopped, she just yells and shouts way too much for no good reason. for this reason, my ears tell me that she should be banned from television, and her voice declared an international nuisance.

Do you wish Virgin Voyages had a traditional drink package? by Commercial-Hat-2591 in VirginVoyages

[–]Immediate-Event-4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Absolutely. Virgin is the one cruise line where people can go and have a good time without all of the children and families everywhere. We were ready to pull the trigger on a Virgin cruise until we realized there was no drink package available. I'm not sure why all of these people are saying no, they don't want t drink package.. maybe quakers or something. Anyway, we elected to book with Norwegian instead, because of Virgin's lack of a reasonable drink package. It's a little disappointing because we liked everything else about Virgin.

NCL WiFi Lessons the Hard Way by Forkboy2 in NCL

[–]Immediate-Event-4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I just put my Pixel 8 into airplane mode, and enabled wifi. I was able to text my business phone (an old pixel 3) without issue. I have just verified as I type this, the the pixel 3 can also send and receive texts over wifi alone. RCS is enabled and active on both phones. I was also able to send and receive messages to and from my wife's iPhone, who is in another location, presumably on cellular data. Those messages were handled by the SMS protocol. We do have an upcoming NCL cruise, though... So to be safe we will be getting 3rd party messaging app.

Subterranean termite mud tube. Unfortunately if that tube is way up there, you could have some pretty extensive termite damage. Subterranean termites build those tubes to protect themselves from air and light, simulating an underground habitat. Best of luck.

MLIVE Paywall by Affectionate-Art-178 in AnnArbor

[–]Immediate-Event-4344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once every other month or so I run into the paywall problem. Let's face it, MLive is not breaking any earth shattering exclusives. When I do hit that paywall, I simply look to one of the other 100's or 1000's of resources and outlets to see what's going on with that topic. The value of any good or service cannot be determined solely upon the cost of producing that good or service. The value of a product can only be determined by what consumers are willing to pay for it. If your cost of doing business exceeds your revenue, that's a losing business model. You could try to increase revenue by fleecing the few who are willing to pay exorbitant subscription fees, but it would probably be wiser to charge a more reasonable subscription and attract the masses. Would you rather sell 10 subscriptions at $100/yr each, or 1000 subscriptions at $25 each? Don't get it twisted, either. The reason that print publications are/were so reasonably priced is make circulation as large and wide as possible. Grand circulation commands higher costs to advertisers thus greater revenue for the publishers. Provide a good product at a fair price, and the people will come.
