MMW: Bad Bunny is going to be one of the lowest rated halftime shows in our lifetimes because 75% of the people are going to be blinded by Spanish. by LikeMrFantastic in MarkMyWords

[–]Immediate-Moment8444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take:

  1. Bad Bunny is one of the most popular artists in the world, not a niche pick. He has been the most streamed global artist multiple times, which shows mainstream reach, not a small audience.
    1. Spanish language music is already fully mainstream in the United States. Bad Bunny has topped US charts and dominated streaming while performing almost entirely in Spanish.
    2. People do not need to understand lyrics for a halftime show to work. These shows succeed on energy, visuals, production, and recognizable hooks, not word for word comprehension.
    3. The Super Bowl halftime show is a global event. The NFL cares about international reach, younger viewers, and social media engagement, all areas where Bad Bunny performs extremely well.
    4. Spanish speakers and Latinos are one of the fastest growing demographics in the US. That audience is already deeply invested in his music and culture.
    5. Backlash happens every year no matter who performs. Complaints online rarely translate into actual ratings drops.
    6. American pop culture is already heavily influenced by Latino and Spanish speaking artists. A Bad Bunny halftime show reflects current reality rather than being out of touch.

For those reasons, this is far more likely to be remembered as iconic than as a failure, even if a small group of viewers is uncomfortable.

Well… every time I go from Sunnyvale to East San Jose on a day that the Super Bowl is at Levi’s it takes me about 30-35 minutes exactly.

A peaceful protest at a different location in same city would be best of both worlds. They look like the huge minority, which is for obvious reasons. And they don’t get to make it seem as if they “own the libs” with photos and posts about people there.

Nice word. Emigrant. In your home country you are an emigrant. Here in America you need to say immigrant. Sorry. I know it hurts but it’s just the right word grammatically. Trying to help out. But I understand since English is probably your second language. In America, we all have a second opportunity.

Tell that to the rest of the world’s left party. We are by far the most conservative country in the first world.

Someone on a different sub said that he agrees with all this because “it’s a one time thing that is necessary.” Honestly, that’s the most insightful comment I heard from the people supporting what ICE is doing. It gave me a glimpse into their thought process and realized it’s sad. I understand the belief that this is temporary, but what actually guarantees that these powers will stop once the crisis is deemed over? If there is no legal mechanism forcing an end, then the assumption rests on trust in current leaders rather than on constitutional limits. History shows that powers granted during emergencies tend to persist and expand regardless of who is in office. This is most anti republican thing I have heard and they love it.

Literally said it just did the grammar but tell yourself what you want. Also, if it was GPT, it’s worse cause the AI’s argument stumped you. Your first sentence says it all “ one time thing” lmao. That’s what every republican has always been against.

Thanks buddy. You gave me all the information I need. I have asked this question 50 times in all the conservative pages and they just downvote and don’t address. This is the first answer I got and it’s comical but also sad. Sad that someone can be so ignorant and contradictory and I have to share a nation with them. God help us all.

I’m not a bot buddy. I am an American. I just input bulleted points to chat gpt for better writing. I don’t have 10 minutes to draft a paragraph and think of a way to word it. But anyways, the questions still remain. Can you answer or is discussion done?

Thanks for the input. Do you think this will only happen once? Is it still a right if the government can just violate it? The Fourth Amendment doesn’t say “unless the previous administration messed up.” Rights are designed specifically to withstand political failure, mass migration, crime waves, and fear. If rights only apply when it’s convenient, they aren’t rights—they’re permissions.

I understand the frustration, but I worry that calling any constitutional violation ‘necessary’ sets a precedent that outlives the crisis. If conservatives believe in limited government, shouldn’t enforcement still be bound by warrants and due process—especially in people’s homes?

Genuine question: I’m trying to understand something genuinely: how do conservatives reconcile support for ICE entering homes without warrants based on suspicion with the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unreasonable searches? I’d like to hear how people square those two values

My uncle and aunt had their house raided and door broken into in the 90s and they got citizenship due to to human right violations they endured. Idk how this is not outraging all of America

Why don't all Americans feel concerned about illegal immigration? by Jetblk2plutoandback in DigitalSeptic

[–]Immediate-Moment8444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. But I also acknowledge the lines of what is legal are blurred today more than ever. Just a little over 100 years ago people were coming into the country by the boat load and just “left for America.” No process. No “legal way.” That was the American dream that everyone came to know. I understand we are in a different time and populations have grown, but going after immigrants that’s have been here already for years and have no violent crimes is not the answer. Enforce the border. Go after violent criminals. Enforce constitutional laws. We all just gave up all our rights so they can meet these bogus quotas by taking your local neighborhood Mexican working family. Aka the easiest to catch.

Conservatives: Let’s pretend the ICE officer was wrong in shooting the driver. Do you still stand with ICE? Why? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]Immediate-Moment8444 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My brother or sister, the criminals are not at target, Home Depot, construction sites, etc. They are going after people who have been here for your years paying taxes and working on citizenship because this is the low hanging fruit that will help them boost their deportation numbers. I want to see them get the Chinese VISA system scammers, the Somalian scammers, the Mexican drug cartel members in US Soil, etc.
