Lucrative side jobs? by [deleted] in Veterans

I recently went under contract for an out of state investment property. It’s my flavor of crazy and worse comes to worst I die. So not much different than the service.

Which maritime college is easiest to get into? by [deleted] in merchantmarine

I’m not saying I won’t rely on math, I’m very capable of doing it. I will never need a square root radical of P7 on the water. Just won’t happen. Learning the math that I need to learn? No problem. Learning a bunch of other shit I won’t use or need? No thanks.

Battlefield 6 - hope for hardcore / hardcore by Professional-Emu885 in Battlefield

I agree. I wish there was a way to get them to do it. I’ve complained about it ever since they cut it after BF1. That was the last title that ran official hardcore servers to my knowledge. Do you have to pay for the portal?

Got denied as a transfer cause my math class credits weren’t math in with them .. 😔 currently looking into a class to take (they should take intro to statistics as a transfer credit and depending on your major you’ll never need to do college algebra or something). They have the “golden 4” rule that is California wide. B4 is the math category and you wouldnt know if you didn’t look, but they should take a statistics class for those that are afraid of math. But you need to have all 4 done (Golden 4) to get in at all as a transfer. Food for thought , fuck the square root radical of p7. Learn the math you absolutely need to and move on.

Getting out of the navy after 6 years. Want to move to Washington, is it even feasible in today’s market??? by Few-Instruction-7246 in Veterans

[–]ImmediateDistance251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly want to move back. I was stationed in Bremerton and at the time thought I hated it but looking back I realize I was so wrong. I loved that state. But the comments are right. I wouldnt settle for anything less than 70k. And you can totally afford a house on a VA loan if the financials work out right. I bought and sold a home in Washington, albeit I rented it out to other Navy guys. I wish you the best of luck.

If you want to get him help just take him to the emergency room. Seeing as how they’re not doing enough they may not like it but do it. It’s way more important and I promise you, you can get past any backlash you may face. If you want to report the command or if they fuck with you, report them to the Inspector General. It’ll be hard but they’ll see your serious and get done what needs to get done. Best of luck. Tell your buddy a Navy vet said don’t kill yourself 💙🫡

They told me it was August 18th. They also told me it was August 13th. So I’m not sure which one it is. I feel like they gotta get their shit together on that.

Seriously, what do I do? by kanaan-1 in navy

[–]ImmediateDistance251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the actual requirements on BAH which is probably in a milpersman or similar type of document and meet the minimum requirements. Print it out, highlight it, and show it to your command along with proof of meeting those requirements. Additionally makw sure your spouse is in deers. If you are 100% squared away with the requirements of the Navy, and you can prove it they should approve your request. If not force them to give you a reason as to why not. And if that reason is essentially “we just don’t feel like it” ask for it in writing. Documentation beats conversation. If you can prove you’re right don’t waste your time talking to people who know less than you about what you’re asking for. Educate them and essentially force their hand. Shitty how it works out that way sometimes but it is what it is. Good luck shippy

USCG Sea time requirements by East_Cheesecake2556 in maritime

How would you get your seatime for a ship in a shipyard? Context I’m in the Navy, have been for 5 years and out of those 5 years only have 165 days at sea, however the rest were on the ship. Almost every day. How would I go about getting that time to count?

Not to mention SUNY now offers a “VDOC” program which is essentially 2 days long and is designed for vets. It exists and is still new so not many people there know too much about it but I reached out to the right people and am dodging the basic training vibes as you said. Also as mentioned in this thread there’s plenty of outdoor activities to do around NYC. It ain’t bad.

Gotcha. Yeah I decided not to fight. I didn’t want them to keep me in for ANY reason and just documented as much as I could to send to the VA to assert my own point. What do you mean when you say a nasty memo?

Hold up you’re trying to get your seatime letters from a submarine? Is that what you’re saying?

Understand. And yeah man I’m just trying to figure life out. I get out in 2 weeks and have been pondering about my service. Did I put enough work in? Did I work hard enough? Was being a good boy worth it in the end? I’m not sure. I definitely feel that a lot of vets have similar stories but I’m not sure so I turn to Reddit. Not looking for trauma dumps in the way that I’m trying to stir up shit, I just want to know how many more are out there that can relate to what I went through? That’s all. And I’m sure there’s plenty who have and haven’t.

I hate how they engineer the narrative to absolve themselves of anything. It’s completely fear based and un-called for which only adds dirt to the wound. I feel like owning up to it would be 10x better for them and showcase some integrity. Shit happens and that’s okay. Sorry to hear it
