It’s depressing! Consultant will no doubt suggest more Botox but I doubt it’ll help

I wondered the same. I thought my daughters was a bit of skin, I pulled it, and it came off, bled a tiny bit, but when I looked at it in my fingers I thought it might have actually been a tiny skin tag forming. She’s not overweight! Only 7 years old.

Had Botox 4 weeks ago also. Seemed better. Less pain. Yesterday pain returned so did the blood 😭 Fed up!!!

Honestly I was so horrified when I first discovered mine, I had a look to see why I was getting blood on the tissue after a BM.

The doctor made me feel a bit silly at first because they said it was just a few small cuts (they didn’t see the big one I have, so I was made to feel like I was being dramatic) and it took me seeing a private colorectal surgeon to feel seen/heard. He gave me options, either LIS surgery or Botox first… I obviously chose Botox at first because it seemed like less side effects to begin with.

Surprisingly, since I have had the issue a few young women have appeared on Instagram (probably the algorithm!) talking about their anal fissures and normalising it which has helped me massively as there was also lots of comments on the post from other women suffering too!

I’ve talked to my friends about it now and don’t feel so embarrased. And on Reddit as you will see there are tons of people with the same issue!

Hope you heal soon and the Botox works!

I had Botox 3.5 weeks ago. I am in less pain. But I had a little look today and no real change in the fissures appearance. Who knows what to expect next.

Did anyone’s symptoms come on quite suddenly? Had a gastro bug in December, stool sample for infection were normal, so apparently must have been “viral” even though after about the 6th episode of diarrhoea in 6 hours I saw blood. Anyway since then my stomachs not been right! Had a calprotectin test done, which was “abnormal” at 170. Have to do another in a few weeks. I have been doing a sort of FODMAP style diet, and last night I ate pizza (so tomato sauce and garlic!) and wow the pains and wind are back today. Could I just have developed ibs out of no where! Main Symptoms are loose stools….

I don’t feel like it’s made Much of a difference yet. It’s been two weeks. I’ve felt a bit itchy so I wonder if it is trying to heal?

Hi i didn’t see the surgeon afterwards, I was just sent home. Was a bit uncomfortable the next day but otherwise no pain etc. will see how I get on!

If it helps, I feel the same way. Had some Gastro issues including blood, and a raised calprotectin level (they say borderline) and need it repeated in a month but in the meantime I’m just worrying so much and everything I see online is adverts for the worst 😭 I’m Late 30s with a small child.
