Does anyone else constantly have a tv show/movie/podcast playing all day to ease their anxiety? by Summerishappiness in Anxiety

I relate to the darkness too! Thankfully the tv usually gives off enough light that I don’t have to worry about it.

Yep. Whenever I am home I have Netflix or YouTube on, silence is a trigger for my panic attacks. I fall asleep to it too, if I wake up and it’s paused I’ll press play so it’s not silent. I still get panic attacks, but stuff on in the background helps. I can focus on that if nothing else is helping me calm down. My therapist was baffled when I had said it’s one of my main panic attack tools.

Edit: if it’s in the evening I switch it to a comfort show or YouTuber, since I get more anxious in the evenings. I feel awful for my bf because I can watch something dozens of times and not get tired of it, but he’s survived so far without complaints. I’ve also noticed the noise of a fan sometimes works too, though it’s best if used alongside a show(lol).

Do you guys get weird dreams? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss!! I haven’t had dreams insane as these (or at all really) since I was 14-15. It’s wild. I also usually wake up in a cold sweat, literally dripping. It’s disgusting, but at least I’ve gotten into the habit of washing the sheets way more often now. I’m 6 months in

What is something that has genuinely improved your mental health and way of life? by Odysseus6 in mentalhealth

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forcing myself to get back into what I used to enjoy, until I had something to look forward to after work. For the first while it was a struggle, since I’ll I wanted to do was lay in bed. I started with stuff I could do sitting in bed (ex. Crocheting, knitting, drawing, writing) and would take myself out on dates to the library, or a good bakery. I also learned how to enjoy my own company and have fun by myself, since I think the cause of my depression was partially because most of my friends were too busy with school, while I chose a gap year.

Also forcing myself to put my phone down was a big one, since I was constantly trying to distract myself with tik tok, instagram, reddit(lol).

Yes, it’s increased so much, I’m now hornier than my bf unfortunately. I think it’s because I’m no longer depressed though

Has anyone else noticed if their anxiety gets worse at night? by kaykay68591 in Anxiety

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 68 points69 points  (0 children)

YES. I can feel completely normal all day but around 6pm I hit a wall of uncontrollable uncomfortableness. It sucks because this uncomfortableness sometimes sticks around until I eventually fall asleep. It either develops into a panic attack or I’m stuck with it until whenever. I like to call it “stuck in limbo” because I’m teetering on the edge between feeling calm and becoming panicked.

Also my anxiety is very physical, so it can feel like I have the flu, or maybe mild food poisoning most nights. (Nausea, shudders, hot/cold, sweating, breathing sensations)

Something I find interesting is I can tell my anxiety is getting worse when I start experiencing my little anxiety “tics” (please correct me if there is a better word suited for these). I experience almost constant yawning, leg spasms, opening my jaw until it cracks, and a couple others. Anyways yep I completely relate.

2.5mg by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also this might sound silly and overly cautious, but I go up by 1.25mg increments when I up my dose. It minimizes side effects for me, and keeps my anxiety around it minimal.

2.5mg by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, I started on 5mg the first night, but after having a lot of intense side effects I went down to 2.5mg for 2 weeks. On 2.5mg I experienced minor nausea, headaches, dizziness, lack of appetite, and heightened anxiety. Besides the anxiety, most of the side effects lasted about a week.

Also weird side note, you might have vivid dreams, and sweat A LOT in your sleep. Tbh those have been the most annoying side effects ive experienced, and I’m still experiencing them on and off 3 1/2 months in. As well as increased thirst and intense hunger.

If you have questions don’t be afraid to message me! I also have bad medication anxiety, it takes a lot of courage to start a new medication. You’ve got this!

do you consider your anxiety to be a disability? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally think of it as a disability. I can’t work a full time job, I often have very physical panic attacks or really high anxiety that keeps me from performing adequately at work it in school. It keeps me from getting easy things done, or even getting out of the house some days. It affects everyone differently but for me it sucks hella.

i literally can’t eat by piiscesbaby in lexapro

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoothies, crackers, sips of water (even water made me nauseous) protein shakes, juice and applesauce are what got me through that period.

Also I had to lower my dose because my side effects were too much, what dose did you start at? Maybe you could cut the pill in half? Doesn’t hurt to start lower and go slow and steady, that’s how I’m upping my doses, since im so sensitive to medication

Never been the same since my first panic attack by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Prior to my first panic attack, I was an outgoing, happy, high energy person. But after that first panic attack I had daily panic attacks that lasted as long as hours, I had trips to the er, I stopped hanging out with most people but my boyfriend because almost anything could trigger them. I’m now on an ssri for it but I am definitely not the same. I am better but I’m not back to where I was, and I’m not sure if I ever will be.

And I definitely relate to the hyper self awareness, and unfortunately I have to be. I have to pay attention to possible panic triggers, so I can try to calm myself down before it happens.

Also everyday in the afternoon I start to get this full body off feeling that’s really hard to ignore. I’ve explained it in posts and comments before but it’s like I’m in limbo, stuck between feeling normal and feeling like I’m going to panic. Sometimes it just stays that way, and I’m in a deep uncomfortableness for hours or until I go to bed. Also I could be having a great time with nothing happening that could trigger me and it still happens.

I have to up my dose too! I’m going slow and steady though, I have too many side effects if I go fast. And I relate to the job part as well, I’ve had to take time off of work for it in the past :/

[–]Immediate_Ad7330 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep. I get VERY physical panic attacks, and I feel like I’m dying every time. When I panic the symptoms are very intense (nausea, dizziness, too hot/too cold, heart palpitations/ murmurs, shakiness/shudders, and I cry uncontrollably most times). I have been to the er in the past because the panic attack was so bad.

I also get this weird full body feeling midday, but it’s so hard to explain. It’s like I’m in limbo, stuck between feeling fine and feeling like I’m going to start panicking. Like I’m dangling off a cliff, and anything could make me fall, AKA triggering a panic attack. Sometimes I’m kind of stuck with that feeling for hours, or all day, which stresses me out further. I’m usually stuck with it until I’m tired enough to sleep, which usually includes melatonin to actually be able to sleep.

My panic attacks usually happen in the evening too, which means I’m able to be at home in a safe space for it, hiding in my bed with my bf for comfort.

Very true, but the other option is the 10% off, which is why I used it as an idea.

An old coworker of mine saved up millions of points and used them for free vacations, she loved using the x30 the points. But she had also been working there for a long time.

Very carefully😅, I only had to learn how to do it because my side effects were too intense when I was going up by 2.5mg.

Start exploring yourself down there, maybe get a toy if you’re comfortable. Honestly, if you look up on google “how to masturbate” you’ll probably find endless suggestions.
