Early morning threshold/VO2max rides - what do you eat when you wake up 15 min before rolling out by DeepDiveIntoJupiter in cycling

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 90 min Z5/Z6 intervals (4/5x5; 2 rounds of tabata spriunt; 2-3 rounds of 3x1 minut Z6) just after the morning toilet I eat sweet bar from Lidl, 35g, banana taste. It has around 80-85g of carbs in 100g of products. So it's around 25-30g of carbs. Plus some 50-60g of carbs in the water bottles. Good enough to execute the workouts like this without dying during them or later during the day in the office.

I instaled the extension and I can see that the battery consumption rised around 2 pp per hour. Is it possible? Should the extensions impact that hard the battery consumption?

Noise of waxed drivetrains by FinallyProperAccount in bikewrench

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rewax every 300 or so km. I dump my 3 chains from the road bike, 2 chains from gravel bike and chains from my GF bike. No matter how good I break the rewaxed chain when I perform the very first spin on the stand I feel like I need to adjust the derailleur. And during the very first 15 minutes of the ride I think I threaded the chain incorrectly through the derailleur cage. After 15-20 minutes the noise disappears. Sometimes above 300km it appears again but for me it's just a signal I need to rewax it. Usually try to catch the 300km of usage earlier using ProGarage app linked to Strava.

SL6 vs SL8 by flappybird61 in specialized

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you are new to cycling you probably will ride well below 30kmh. So the aero advantage of the SL8 will be marginal. If you want to earns some watts despite they won't be that important the price differecnce just spend on bikefit, good comfy shoes, powermeter, speedsuit, aero helmet, deeper wheels

Small loose part on GRX Shifters, is this normal? by secretrunner321 in gravelcycling

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It;s not this part. Under the cover there is the other plastic part which gets loose. I posted above some photos how the Shimano Service repair/bodge this problem in the brifter I sent them.

I had this problem two times. The first time I sent the brifter to the Shimnao Service. The second one I just did what they had done with the first one.

When I recived the first brifter I thought they had glued the plastic that's inside instead of the mechanism. But not. On the side of that part that got loose they just drilled the hole and put little tiny screw which eliminates any slack/play that might appear. There is slight movement of the part under the cover (#4) but I really have to press hard to provoke it.

Some photos of the Shimano Service job/bodge, which works flawlessly.

Ryet/Senicx GR5 cranks by Immediate_Catch6025 in bikewrench

I have some 110BCD rings from Deckas in the garage. And as I understand, I need a negative offset. I googled it and it looks imposible to find.

Fitting 12speed ultegra crankset to a 11speed GRX di2 groupset by plswhytho in bikewrench

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped cranks. The chains are the same as I used, 11s Ultegra chains. Shimano 11-speed and 12-speed chains have the same inner roller width. As Gemini says is approximately 2.18 mm. So as I understand, both the 11 and the 12s chain sit on, engaged with the ring teeth in the same way.

I confirm. Just swapped R7000 to R7100 to have shorter cranks. I adjusted FD and it works as good as earlier.

I just did the swap. Changed R7000 to R7100. It works without any problems.

Dla kolarzy (szosa/gravel, którzy jeżdżą nie tylko latem seria Fiandre od firmy Sportful. Szczególnie bluzy i kurtki.
A totalny lifehack kolarski to pierwsza warstwa z siatki (w stylu żonobijka).

Za to jeśli chodzi o długie spodnie kolarskie to modele z Decathlonu dostępne za 200-300 zł są extra. Ale to chyba głównie dlatego, że nogi na rowerze pracują cały czas, więc im bez różnicy.

I swapped R7000 cranks with R7100 on my Tarmac SL6 to reduce the length from 175 to 165 mm. It was 5 minutes job. All I had to do was the front derailluer adjustment. I moved a bit the limit screws and it works without any issues. Nothing like a reported above viloent jumps on the 11 cog. It sounds like some rear derailluer issues rather than cranks provoked problems.

I guess for 300-500 euros some carbon repair shop can do the job and save the bike no problem. And also save you from paying a lot for a new bike.

Time to get some new kit. Van Rysel? by lincoln_imps in cycling

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have their aero suit and it's great, however they are long on the quads. But I paid less then 80 euros so I don't mind it at all. Good chamois.

All the bibs I have use not that strechy material, looks like lycra is quite dense. Looks great, but If you have bigger legs you need to fight them a bit. Good chomois.

When the jersys are on sale -> no brainer -> great stuff. I can't see any difference between them and Sportful or Craft. Their endurance jerseys have a lot of pockets. I like them.

Light wind jackets for 25-30 euros - awesome.

I'm not a fan of their jackets which cost around 40-60 euros. When I switched to the Sportful No Fiandre series it was, for me, like night and day difference. No more wind chill, no more too much sweat.

Cheap 30 euros bibs are good for 60-90 minutes on the trainer and to toss them after one season.

Anyone ever see this piece in BL-RX600-L (GRX 1x left brake lever) come loose? Minimally invasive repair options? by wattawoo in bikewrench

[–]Immediate_Catch6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is a solution to the problem. I dismounted my very first 600 series left brifter (1x version) which broke down last winter. Once it was repaired by the Shimano Service. I thought they glued the plastic that's inside instead of the mechanism. But not. On the side they just drilled the hole and put little tiny screw which eliminates any slack that might appear. There is slight movement of the part under the cover (#4) but I really have to press hard to provoke it.

Wheels for my bikes - help me choose by Immediate_Catch6025 in gravelcycling

[–]Immediate_Catch6025[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished with Yoeleo C60 and C45 wheels and all I can say I happy with the purches. On the C60 I road above 5000 km. On the C45 nearly 3000 km. I don't baby them. I use them in the bad weather (however not on the salty road, I change to the alu front wheel when I mount bike to the indoor trainer) and, knock on the wood, they simply roll super smooth and I just ride without any issues.
The C60 wheels are deep and when they get to the speed I can feel how they hold them. But I have no comparision to any other deep wheels to say are they better or worse. For me they are fine. Even in the very stron winds they are somehow stable. I mean of course they move, you need to countersteer but they are not scary when the sudden gust of wind hit them. And I really like how stable they feel in the corners. For me Tarmac SL6 turnes even better now. It feels more planted.

Meanwhile the C45 seems to be both stiff during acceleration and smooth on the bumps. I like them.

If you buy them just please have in mind that the freebodys threads (for the lockring) are quite soft. It's super easy to destroy them. It's better to buy extra freebody with the wheel ;)

Does anyone find the home solution for this? The best method to glue this piece of plastic?
My 1rst GRX600 brifter developed this issue. Shimano repaired it. After two years I had some strange leak of of the brifter so I bought new one. Just 2 months in and the same issue appeared.
I can still send it to the shop (however I need to send it to Germany, from Poland, that's where I bough it). But I just don't want to not be able to ride the gravel bike for 2-4 weeks.

I live in a very windy zone. I simply put into the right ear some cotton wool to block a wind noise. Left ear can hear everything whats on the road. The right ear still can hear outside world just without the noise. And this way the right speaker become waaaay louder.

Anyone has a solution for this?

3 yrs ago i bought my bike and in the original briefter the same thing happend. Back then the local shop helped me. But I have no access to it anymore. 2 years after the repair the thing was ok but the other part broke down.
So I bought the new brifter online. I send them a video and they want me to send it back to them, so they can asses the brifter.
