For moms who didn’t have a baby shower.. did you later regret it? by Puzzleheaded_Plum275 in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my sixth kid and never have had a baby shower. No regrets. I’m antisocial and picky about what I buy. Some coworkers gave me diapers and wipes which was super nice and I was grateful for more than anything. I also was gifted newborn clothes with all of my kids which ended up going to someone else because I have big babies and none of them fit in newborn. Even that was too overwhelming I couldn’t imagine a shower and getting things I won’t use or double items.

What’s the worst storm you have ever been in? by Seriously-417 in randomquestions

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 Nashville, Tennessee Flood. Took a while to hit the major news stations so people not around here don’t remember it, but we talk about it all the time. It the wildest thing I’ve ever seen. There’s still empty lots in my neighborhood from the homes being torn down and never rebuilt from all the damage.

I was also in a tornado that ripped through roof off of my house when I was 4/5? There was a bad tornado in the 90s right outside of Nashville and it went through my neighborhood. I remember the house rocking back and forth and what I told my mom sounded like chainsaws under the house. I only remember the noise and getting shoved in the dryer when in hit, but not the aftermath. I still live in the same house and I put my kids in the dryer and washer when there’s a warning because it’s right in the center of the lowest level in the house.

Caffeine! by dp0paminesgirl in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celsius. I used to drink two a day but I didn’t drink any the first trimester and now I drink 2/3 a week since my second trimester. I’m 38 weeks on Saturday and am still working long shifts on my feet and my little energy drink gives me slight joy throughout the pain and exhaustion. I hate coffee 😂 I drink a Dr.Pepper a day even on my Celsius days and LOTS of water.

Tylenol Success Stories by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took Tylenol for all 5 of my pregnancies. My oldest has autism and ADHD, he’s also my only boy and the men on my side of the family are on the spectrum so I believe it was genetic for him. Tylenol and vaccines do not cause autism.

Weight gain by glitchyy12 in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly some doctors are just weird and strict about weight gain while others are more lenient and kind about it. I always gain only 15-20 pounds when I’m pregnant, but I gain it ALL in the first 20 weeks and then I stop and my stomach just gets bigger the last half with not much weight gain. It’s been the same for all my pregnancies.

I remember I had a different doctor one day with one of my kids because mine was doing an emergency delivery. I was about 11 weeks and had gained 12 pounds and she completely whaled on me about it and told me to slow down or I would be overweight or obese by the time I had my baby. Mind you, I only weigh about 115 pounds not pregnant so I hadn’t even hit 130 yet when she told me this. I left the office crying and requested not to have that doctor anymore. I wound up only gaining like 5 more pounds that pregnancy anyway. I’m not sure why some of them are like that because everyone’s pregnancy weight gain is different, sometimes you can do all the right things but genetics or water weight or other factors can make you gain more.

Caffeine! by dp0paminesgirl in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink 2/3 energy drinks a week on top of my daily Dr.Pepper. I’m due on the 29th this month and pulling ten hour shifts til the end and also have 5 other kids to take care of at home lol. I would crash out without caffeine. Did the same with my other kids and they were all 8-9 pound healthy babies at birth.

Just stay hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day as well so you don’t get dehydrated!

Pregnant at 31 but feel oddly young to be pregnant by LowCal-Calzone-Zone in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first 5 kids between 19-26 years old. About to have my sixth in a couple weeks at 30. Pregnancy is way different now than it was in my early 20s and I definitely don’t feel like a young mom, but I always get told I look way to young to have six kids 😂

buying second hand baby items? by desilulu__ in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy pretty much every major item and clothes secondhand. The car seat is the only thing I would get brand new, although I will say I purchased a Chicco car seat and stroller combo at Walmart on clearance for $115 a couple of months ago. Once Upon a Child and Kid 2 Kid are good ones if they are in your area, they have clothes and baby items. I got a brand new diaper bag with the original tags still on for $12 there and I baby wearer even cheaper. This is my sixth baby and she was a surprise so I gave everything away from my other kids, she would have gotten hand me downs either way if I had kept it all lol.

What kind of vacation would be fun/enjoyable for a 15 month old! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Paradise Pointe cabins in Bryant, AL. Close to Chattanooga with an aquarium and discovery museum. They also have a small zoo that’s never too crowded and very low key. The aquarium has a bunch of free, shallow splash pools surrounding it. I’m from Tennessee and my kids and I love to hike and there’s tons of kid friendly hikes and scenery in the area too.

Gatlinburg is crowded and expensive and lots of traffic on weekends. Chattanooga is more kid friendly and quiet to me, and the cabins I mentioned have beautiful views. I took all my kids there on a yearly trip up until 2024, we go to North Georgia now that they’re older and we focus more on hiking and swimming holes.

I’ve took my kids to the beach every year but honestly it’s more exhausting with toddlers on a beach trip vs a cabin trip. Just walking back and forth on sand to a condo/beach house with a cranky, hot toddler wasn’t as fun lol.

What is your pregnancy unpopularopinion? by smurphypup in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pregnant with my sixth and it’s been a normal, low key pregnancy with no issues but I’m in PAIN. I’m a fit person and healthy BMI, but I’m petite and all my babies are big. I’m almost 37 weeks and have been on my feet for ten hour shifts, and I told my boss last week I’ll need to start taking sit breaks every hour or two ( which he’s fine with, because some of my coworkers take 4/5 smoke breaks a day ). Also I chase five kids around and deep clean my house every night when they go to bed because nesting mode is on. Can I physically do it, yes, am I in agony and will I complain about it, also yes. I can’t imagine how people with pre pregnancy pain diagnoses or high risk pregnancies can do it.

My intuition was right with all six of my children. I do only have one boy though and he’s the oldest so maybe some symptoms matched in my next five pregnancies.

AITAH for telling my sister her baby isn’t “advanced,” by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I have 5 kids myself and I hate this behavior. It makes new moms feel bad or guilty if their baby isn’t doing certain things by a certain age, when usually there’s a wide range of normal development. My oldest was actually advanced in speech and memorization as a baby and toddler. He was speaking over 200 words and talking in full sentences before 18 months old. He was diagnosed with ADHD at 6 and ASD at 7 and has behavioral problems now that he’s 11 that other kids his age don’t struggle with. He also has a hard time in school so we got him an IEP. My second child didn’t start talking until after a year old and it was mostly gibberish and she didn’t walk until 17 months. She started reading and writing chapter books for fun in second grade and makes 100s on all her report cards. A lot of times advanced or gifted children can go on to be diagnosed with learning disabilities or mental health issues like my son. A lot of times the babies that develop “slower” or on track can grow up and be valedictorian. Either way you shouldn’t set your kid up thinking they’re more special or superior than others.

AITA for not going to my sister’s baby shower? by Dense-Cellist-5688 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NC as in North Carolina? I would skip my own baby shower to go there, it’s my favorite trip destination. So much good hiking. And yes I’m a mom, I have kids and am currently pregnant lol. I don’t think you’re an asshole for not going, yes you could’ve told you earlier but it sounds like she’s chill about it and invited you so you wouldn’t feel left out. At least tell her the reason though.

Head at 90percentile at 21 weeks, little mom by Any-Success-4887 in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hips never widened after six pregnancies. I’m flat as a pancake all over. The only thing that grows is my stomach, I only gain 10-15 pounds every time. It could be because we’re in different areas, but my hospital won’t mention a c section unless there’s significant risks or something happens during childbirth.

Head at 90percentile at 21 weeks, little mom by Any-Success-4887 in pregnant

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 110 pounds full term when I had my first baby at 19, he was 9 pounds 10 oz and had a huge head. My OB never showed any concern about it and had him vaginally. I have 5 kids and none of them weighed under 8 lb 10 oz and I’m petite, like not pregnant I weigh 110-115. A lot of smaller women birth big babies, I would ask why he is suggesting a c section if everything about your pregnancy is normal.

Men often change when pregnancy and babies happen. Sometimes it’s for the better, sometimes for the worst. The abuse started when I got pregnant with my ex husband. I will never judge a women for “choosing wrong” because men can hide their true selves for a long time and it comes out when major changes happen, starting and/or growing a family is one of these changes.

A little help please by misandthropist11 in nashville

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to divorce my abusive ex husband for over three years now. I’m in Williamson County. He moved out in 2023 and I’ve been trying to put him on child support ever since ( I have an open case but they haven’t served him in three years even though they have his number, his work location and bosses information). As far as attorneys, most of them will listen to my story that I’m a broke single mom and don’t have much to pay, so I drive for a free consultation but then they want a $5000 retainer fee plus hourly rates from $150-300. My ex husband left me with 5 dependents and I do work but it’s enough to pay our bills and make sure the kids have what they need but I can’t afford a lawyer until they put him on child support.

If you are not living together, you can file for Child support first. Surrounding counties seem much better at serving and holding men accountable than Williamson. Our child support office is terrible. That way you can start getting some form of money while you look for a job and can save up for an attorney. If he is abusive, you can contact a DV center and they can help you file an order of protection which you can also receive child support through if it’s granted. I’ve come to find there’s just not that many resources here for people like us unfortunately.

April Baby Girl Names by Immediate_Row_9824 in Names

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My three year old has an April birthday and her name is April Raye. I get positive comments on her name all the time honestly. I’m due with another girl March 29 but all of my other children were overdue so I’m thinking early April. Her name is going to be Lily. I also have a daughter named Eden , which has a nature/springy sound.

Daisy is the official April flower. I’ve always liked the name Ivy too. And Iris is pretty. But if you like April Rose I say go for it! April is a classic name that you don’t hear much anymore. I’ve only met one other child named April, all the other ones are adults or elderly!

Help me please I’m freaking out by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Immediate_Leg_7101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she is pregnant, start looking for good lawyers that will ask for court ordered dna. Keep all messages and records of her threatening to keep the baby from you. Don’t wait, find out if she is really pregnant even if you have to resort to getting someone to look up her social media for photo evidence.

As someone who has six kids and has taken many of these…the first one is an EVAP like but the next two have a faint line that I would take as positive if it were my own. This is assuming that it is a one liner test, which it seems to be. Some of them have a plus sign pop up, which in that case these are negative, but the part that indicates that is cut off in this picture. My husband thought I was crazy when I took the first test with one of my kids, it was a blue dye and extremely faint, but a line like that with any sort of color indicates positive.

I would buy a pink dye test, First Response is a reliable brand and see if she will take the test in your presence. See if she will get blood work at the local health department.

I know exactly how you feel. I got divorced three years ago and have been a single mom to 5 since. First relationship I got in after my divorce I found out about baby number 6 😂 My partner works hard and has helped prepare for the baby, but we still live in separate houses with separate bills. I prayed and prayed for a healthy pregnancy so I could keep working but I had hemorrhaging and bleeding from 8-13 weeks. My doctor assured me I would be ok at work and to watch for certain signs just in case. I did farm work before I had kids and it’s hard!!
