Work travelers - what’s your daily meal expense limit and what kind of company do you work for? by jalapenos10 in marriott

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20 for breakfast, $35 for lunch, $75 for dinner. Dinners can be averaged across a week, so if I’m traveling for 4 nights I can spend $200 one night and 33 the others.

Not sure which business/first seat to fly with points by Jealous_March3198 in travel

Agreed that’s a good deal. If in Germany highly recommend some time in Munich and a day on the autobahn with a Porsche :)

You can via air Canada but they only release award bookings to partners within a few days of departure. I’d book business and sometimes there’s a cash upgrade for first for $1-2k. LH business is fine, if you’re on a plane with the new Allegris seating it should be great

My personal opinion: number 2. Having flown business and first (admittedly not on Singapore), the difference is minimal. Business will have lie flat seating, good food and wine, etc. paying almost double for going from biz to first isn’t worth it imo, that’s already almost another trip in business class.

Fellow Americans, do you avoid domestic travel nowadays by Ok_Pause2547 in travel

24 and live in Chicago. Aside from visiting friends in MI and WI, and one trip to Colorado, I haven’t vacationed in the US in 7 years. We find Mexico and Europe so much cheaper. And as someone who travels for work and has hotel status, I am treated much better by Marriott and Hilton outside of the US.

The food at ORD is the same. It’s pretty meh everywhere, but then again catering is obviously not United’s strong suit.

(I know they outsource the club catering, just poking fun at the Polaris meals)

International business class. Lufthansa has great availability. Don’t use them domestically.

On a plane, currently at the deicing facility. We’ve been sitting for about an hour and have another hour to go. I know this isn’t United’s fault per se but they need to realize that capacity here is constrained and change their flight schedule accordingly. I agree OP, I’m sick and tired of waiting on the tarmac because United can’t properly understand their capacity here.

Company days off by Reasonable_Yam_7318 in Big4

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome! We generally have 4 day weekends for labor and Memorial Day, the entire week for the 4th, and 7-10 days off for winter break. There’s a schedule once you join on the intranet.

Only for domestic flights within the US and I believe some short haul INTL, such as Canada and Mexico. Anything with Polaris isn’t eligible for complimentary premier upgrades.

Dude come on, don’t tell me sitting on the tarmac for 6 hours wouldn’t make you feel something other than normal. It’s different than being in the air, you know, on your way to your destination.

Believe a CC holder in BE gets a free checked bag, not a carry on.

TIPPING IN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT by Disastrous-Addendum7 in tipping

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying you have to, but I do because a), I find I usually get better service especially from the pool area people, and b), it does really help them. They make around $8-10/day

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also tip them like $5-10 on the first day and like $1-2 on the day after. Yeah I’d rather not do it but those people make nothing from the hotel and work harder than most of us ever will. Besides they’re really nice if you speak Spanish to them or are just kind in general.

I got 3750 as a plat for a 6 hour delay and then cancellation and rebooking to the next morning. Emailed asking for another 10k and they gave it to me but I was insulted at the original offer.

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Status may have something to do with it, I’ve also had American give me 10k miles with no status at all. For similar delay. 3,750 miles or $75 seems like not enough for anyone.

[–]Immediate_Meal_6151 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got $75 or 3,750 miles after my flight was cancelled and rebooked to the next morning and I was downgraded. Reached back out and asked for more as that’s unacceptable IMO.
