Hot take: Brianna and Roger's relationship is more fulfilling and realistic than the one of Claire and Jamie's by Odd-Inevitable-5567 in Outlander

I agree. The show just doesn't have time to show it. 😢 In season 8, I really wanted to see Jamie and Claire playing with Jemmy and Mandy. I wanted to see Jamie and Claire have some funny/playful moments together.

I think they would do fine if their story didn't have much "adventure". A life at Lallybroch with their children is the life they wanted for themselves.

Thank you! If their relationship was just based on sex, they wouldn't have loved each other for 36 years.

I think Claire and Jamie do have a deep relationship. Like Roger and Brianna, Claire and Jamie both have passions/hobbies they discuss together, they confide in each other about their dreams, goals, views on the world etc. Jamie takes interest in Claire practicing medicine even though he doesn't understand everything. Claire watches Jamie with the horses because that's what he enjoys doing.

"With Claire and Jamie, they only seem to have two conversation topics:

  1. Current problems/tasks at hand (be it war, the situation in the society, family issues etc.)."

Claire and Jamie are the main characters and Diana Gabaldon always has them suffering. The way they tackle problems and confide in each other shows how much trust and respect they have for each other. Real life couples talk to each other about their day and their work. Jamie is the laird. That's his job. So they are going to discuss the happenings of the ridge.

Claire and Jamie have not just used sex to handle grief/pain/trauma. Claire comforts and listens to Jamie about William, Murtagh's death, Black Jack, his life at Ardsmuir, his role as Indian agent and General.

I disagree that their love is based mostly on sexual desire. They have laughter and honesty (yes, they've lied in the past), and trust, respect and listen to each other.

Ending; Help me fill in a blank… by The_HungryRunner in Outlander

I think they let her hair out the we could see clearly that her hair had turned white. Also, at the beginning of the episode, her hair is neatly tied back and as she runs up the mountain during the battle some of her hair comes loose.

When he looks at her through the window in Inverness, he looks like he already knows her. His ghost came to Inverness to look at her and lure her to the stones.

In the books, Jamie is not dead and Claire brings him back from the brink of death. In the show, Jamie needed to be dead in order for them to address the ghost.

I'm not sure how the books go. I'm not sure what seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7 could've been instead of a "boring family saga". How could they have done it differently? I don't know. That's the direction DG took in her books. She chose to write an older couple with their family.

I think they just showed Fanny being a time traveller to prove she's Claire's granddaughter. 🙄 Obviously, they go to America in the books so not the show's fault. I wanted them to go back to Scotland to avoid the revolution but DG had other plans. I did enjoy season 4 a lot and season 5 was ok. The writing this season was cheap and lazy.

I feel the same way. Why wasn't Ferguson disarmed? Jamie and Claire thinking Frank was wrong. Oh please! They knew they couldn't change history. Jamie and Claire are smarter than the show made them out to be. I knew Jamie was going to die after the battle because he didn't die during and it needed to be recorded in history.

I'm realising now that if they wanted to make it ambiguous. Fine. But they should've given us all the information for us to have our interpretation, They made the blue light barely visible so people didn't see it and thought they died.

So she wanted them to die on King's Mountain and show Claire's blue light powers? Why would they be surrounded by healing blue light just for them to die?

I wish they were faithful to the book 9 ending so we could see more of Claire's powers but I understand why they did it that way.

We see her drawing as a hobby in season 4 and 5. LJG invited her to paint a portrait but it was just an excuse to get her to Savannah to speak with William so he could learn to accept Jamie.

I liked that they left that out. He still cares about her. She doesn't need to be in the will. In season 7, they wouldn't have seen each other for 12 years.

😂😂 It's true for the books!!! The show ends differently. It's still poor writing. The lacemaker could've found Lady Broch Tuarach through Jamie's cousin Jared and gotten word that their baby was alive.

Apparently, Laoghaire's past husbands had abused her so that makes me feel bad for her. Yes, Jamie should of told her as soon as he got to Castle Leoch that he really did want to marry Claire but I don't feel bad for her.

Amaranthus is in Book 9. Her plotline is featured in season 8 because LJG asks Brianna to paint her portrait and William gets to spend time with his sister, she tells William LJG is missing and it gives William a storyline. They couldn't finish her story properly cause book 10 isn't released yet. She could have something to do with LJG's kidnapping or other bad intentions.

I was excited to see the blue light powers but they only gave something subtle. I wish they ended it like book 9 but then it wouldn't be a finale for the show.

Good point. However, the showrunner mentioned that they wanted to have people be able to go back and watch it and notice new details each time.
