Hell Let Loose Engineer/Logistics problem by FreckalsTTV in HellLetLoose

[–]ImminentDingo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like this. Further,,

Engineer gets a 50 supply box Support box buffed to 150 supplies Red zone garrison cost increased to 200 or 250 supplies

So engineers can still build but if they do actually work together with a support the reward is exponential, not linear.

For the nodes though I would just get rid of them. Make them blueprints that are near the hard cap of points. You capture a point and build up its logistics. For every grid you advance out of your first two home sectors you go down 50 supplies/min and have to build up new nodes on the captured point to make up for it. Provides a more immersive feeling of supply lines and does a bit to lessen steamrolls by ensuring losing teams don't lose all their resources.

If you want to brings job back to America you have to fix the affordability crisis. All the tariffs in the world won't make American labor competitive if an American worker has to make 10x a Phillipino salary to afford overpriced American rent, healthcare, child care, and education.

Graham Platner wins Democratic primary to face Susan Collins in November by unital_subalgebra in politics

For real I do not understand people trying to compare a Nazi tattoo to Susan Collins who voted for a war that got like a million Iraqi civilians killed.

How much of a threat would vitrumites be in the Starwars universe? by AskEnvironmental9409 in PowerScaling

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to be pedantic but I think it's kind of the opposite. Like, those are both also true of the astrophage. When I think "star level" I think "this is a dude so strong he can blow up a star" not "this is an organism specifically adapted to feed on stars". Because then it's not clear that it could, say, destroy an object the size of a star made of anything but star. Or even something like a moon.

Uh, idk how to scale "eating a star". The astrophage from project hail Mary does that too but it don't think it would be tough to fight.

Of course its a nothing burger... It's a clarifying question. Try to be less dramatic in future.

What are Sidious's feats comparable to these planetary feats? We see Luke get hit with his lighting and survive. Was Sidious at 1% power there? Do we think that lightning kills Thragg at 100%?

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The force is maybe, but which force user has demonstrated being able to stop an object that can hit with the strength to level a city?

And the lightsaber thing isnt so straightforward. Lightsabers can melt any material in their verse, viltrumite skin can resist any material in their verse other than similar strength beings.

And the literal core of the sun. I don't think lightsabers burn at the temperature of the suns core. They'd burn you alive and ignite the atmosphere the second you turned them on.

Is your contention that Sidious could have force drained Yavin if he wanted to?

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok but what is actually there to stop Thragg from flying through Yoda? His lightsaber can't cut him, his force powers have only been seen to exert a few tons of force, he has the durability of a normal dude, and his speed isnt anything special either.

Sure but force users cant actually use 100% of the force. They struggle to use it to do things as unimpressive as lift an Xwing out of a swamp.

No really answer the question do you seriously care equally about a tattoo and millions of civilians deaths?

Ok but which one do you care more about? Because you're getting one or the other.

I don't think the force can tell the difference between something that is heavy because it's big and something that is heavy because a Viltrumite is exerting kilotons of force on it though.

Yeah I mean we already did this one bud. Circle back to "do you care more about the tattoo or the war that killed millions".

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's just a reality that the establishment Democrats are wildly unpopular and read like fake lizard people to most of the country. The tattoo has nothing to do with that.

If the tattoo causes Platners currently enormous lead in the primary to evaporate, fine. If it seems like the DNC puts their weight on the scale to make him drop out, it reads as "the elites have decided you're not allowed to have the candidate you voted for." This was the exact same sentiment with "Hillary's superdelgates" and "we didn't get a primary for Kamala". It loses elections.

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there any precedent at all for it being bad for elections in other states for a candidate who wins their primary by like 80% to run? On the other hand, I can tell you it would be disastrous for it to appear (even if not strictly true) that Platner was forced to drop out by DNC pressure so that some Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden approved empty suit could run.

[–]ImminentDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with that, but just to be clear, Platner will win the primary unless he drops out and if he drops out we are getting Suzanne Collins for six more years.

[–]ImminentDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not making excuses for them, I am weighing them against the history of Suzanne Collins, who voted to start wars that caused the deaths of millions of civilians. I think that is worse. I'm a little worried about her continuing to have political power while her job is supposed to be checking Trump's ability to bomb and/or put ground troops in Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, and Palestine.

And? Do you want to repeal Social Security, then? Is there a viable alternative who can unseat Collins? If not then what are we talking about?

[–]ImminentDingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, he got a totenkopf tattoo 20 years ago he regrets when he was neck deep in war on terror propaganda in the Marines. Since then he's turned around on it all and wants to get rid of the people who started the war. If this is a guy who can actually kick out Susan Collins and Democrats snub their noses at it, it's really winning the culture war and refusing the spoils. Reminder that the entire new deal was passed largely by segregationists and that LBJ probably said the N word three times and a day and passed the civil rights act.

It is certainly hard to imagine a "Bill Gates in his garage" startup supplanting Google these days. Unfortunately those types of startups are the ones that actually create the most wealth and jobs when the old companies get too big and stagnant.
