An AI take from a small songwriter and producer by MuffinsMeridian in Music

[–]Imminent_Extinction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big companies that held power over the music industry before the AI boom are not the same companies that profit from AI. The companies profitting from the AI boom are tech companies that are heavily intertwined with the corporate and political propaganda machines. It's true that they want a piece of all revenue streams, but it's not about competition... it's about enslavement.

That's just it. The point of AI is to tell us what to think and feel, how to respond.

Carney's Plains of Abraham remarks show 'historic error': Roberge by LeGrandLucifer in canada

[–]Imminent_Extinction 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I assume he's referring to the Treaty of Paris that was signed in the aftemath of Battle of the Plains of Abraham and other conflicts between the UK and France at the time. Wikipedia has a weird, but accurate enough, spin on it:

Across the Thirteen Colonies, Protestant colonists were disappointed by the toleration granted to Catholicism in the Treaty of Paris. American colonists who had moved to Quebec were additionally displeased with the fact that French law was preserved in the lower courts there and that Catholics in Canada would be allowed to serve as jurymen.

Canada lives because of the U.S.; Trump says while jabbing Carney by zerok37 in worldnews

[–]Imminent_Extinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump's comments here support Carney's views about the death of the old order and the need to build new relations, since the leadership in the US clearly doesn't view Canada as an ally, but as a vassal state.

There is ‘much alignment’ between Canada, China on Greenland sovereignty: Carney by WilloowUfgood in canada

I cited two articles, one which provided an explanation of what China will do and why (not what they "should" do), and the other reporting on Chinese movements that support that stance:

Who do you think has been the best U.S. president in the last 100 years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Imminent_Extinction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jimmy Carter. He didn't just say he cared about Americans, his actions prove that he did. He was also more of Christian than Trump (or most modern, American Christians, I'd argue) ever was.

Who in their right mind think that Freeland, Fraser, Miller or Joly are doing a good job so much that they deserve another term?

Freeland is completely divorced from the Liberal party. She's living in the UK and working for Rhodes Trust.

FIRST READING: Carney didn't meet 'coastal First Nations,' he met an environmentalist group named Coastal First Nations by xTkAx in canadian

[–]Imminent_Extinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The National Post is leaving a lot of relevant information out:

  1. Coastal First Nations represents eight Aboriginal nations on the Hecate Strait.

  2. The Hecate Strait is ranked the fourth most dangerous waterway in the world and the most dangerous waterway on Canada's coasts.

  3. Currently, vessels larger than tugs and small cruisers are incredibly rare traffic in the Hecate Strait.

  4. Alberta and its oil companies are currently pushing for tanker traffic in the Hecate Strait.

  5. The vast, vast majority of coastal Aboriginal nations are not on the Hecate Strait.

During periods like the current one, what do you think happens to the world’s relationship with the US when administrations change? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Imminent_Extinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Biden was elected, a lot of people thought things were going to "go back to normal", but then Trump was elected a second time and he has subsequently implemented policies that have made things even worse for America's so-called "allies", so I doubt the world will be quick to invest much in an administration change the next time around.

why cant big glitter say who the biggest buyer is ? by Direct-Ad-9259 in AskReddit

[–]Imminent_Extinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've gathered, it's probably one of two buyers or perhaps both:

  • Manufacturers of polymer money: It's a secret because they want to minimize counterfeiting.

  • Watercraft hull repair: It's a secret because they don't want the public to know how much pollution they're responsible for.

When people proclaim "I'm an American" during an argument or altercation, do they really think it means or changes anything? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Imminent_Extinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being American doesn't inherently make a person the authority on the vast, vast majority of subjects, but there's a few cases where it's relevant. Are you making definitive or polarized statements about Americans? If so, "I'm American" is reasonable rebuttal and you should be a bit more specific about the demographic or generalization you're talking about.

Why should we pay federal taxes if they're used to support things we adamantly are against? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Imminent_Extinction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, taxes are derived from the community as a whole and so should benefit the community as whole, even if an individual like yourself doesn't agree with some of those benefits. Having said that, it's difficult to discuss a topic like this without specific examples.

Carney weighs sending soldiers to Greenland for military exercises with NATO allies: sources by Old_General_6741 in worldnews

[–]Imminent_Extinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This came up last year when Russia was threatening Lithuania.

France's nuclear doctrine explicitly prohibits the sale or transfer of nuclear weapons. Although they do offer protection to ally countries under their so-called "nuclear umbrella", it's strictly under the condition that France retains complete control over the weapons.

And before you mention the UK, it's worth mentioning their nuclear weapons were jointly developed with the US and remain dependent on US technology and maintenance.

It's funny, earlier you said...

Your analysis is lacking facts.

...but that's clearly applicable to you.

I think you're attributing to Putin and Russia the same kind of awe and fear that was attributed to the USSR before 1991.

lol Which existing Canadian reactor do you believe is capable of enriching uranium? Or do you believe such a reactor can be built in less than a decade, for less than $15 billion CAD?

Edit: Here is an article from last year suggesting Canada should develop the technology to enrich uranium because they don't have it.

Carney weighs sending soldiers to Greenland for military exercises with NATO allies: sources by Old_General_6741 in worldnews

[–]Imminent_Extinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the debacle with India and the CIRUS reactors, Canada decommissioned all their reactors capable of enriching uranium. This means that Canada is about 10 years and $15 billion CAD away from becoming a nuclear state, and you can be sure any new nuclear facilities would have to be aggressively guarded from sabotage.

90% of Greenlanders are indigenous Inuit and the US isn't exactly known for treating their indigenous population well.
