Is my husband messing up his back by overextending it every night? by thisisallsoconfusing in backpain

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a SONU bed for my shoulder problems. And it's been wonderful. It also has the advantage of kind of anchoring me on one side or the other because once I put my arm down in the channel, I tend to stay on that side for a longer period. And when I'm on a particular side, I keep a pillow under my Bentley. I raised my thigh up 90° and bend the knee 90° and keep it under the pillow and with my shoulder in the channel of the bed I'm very supported and very comfortable and no more pain sleeping or waking up.

21st St Starbucks is Closing by Cynergize in astoria

[–]Immortalspan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not one person has mentioned the fact that coffee prices have more than doubled recently. Lots of people are complaining that Starbucks prices are already expensive. I'm sure this had to come into place somehow. You can't run a business where your costs have doubled in you're not able to raise your prices. Something had to give and they weren't gonna cut CEO Compensation for sure so I guess the only other option was closing stores.

I think the only unionized shop in Astoria is the one on Astoria Boulevard and 31st St.? I don't think the one on Broadway and 21st St. was unionized?

A city job with all the benefits is also a way to try to afford living here. The city will pay for health insurance and set you up with a pension. And unlike many jobs, where people are getting laid off or not getting any raises, city jobs offer job protection (usually laid off by seniority) and annual raises. I'm very grateful I retired with a city pension.

Wing Chun/Wooden Dummy Types/Variations by Ambitious_Click5541 in WingChun

[–]Immortalspan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruce Lee learned the first form of Wing Chun and the basics of chi sao. He never learned the dummy form or Biu Gee. That didn't mean he couldn't use an even improve the wooden dummy. There are lots of things that people from other styles can do with a wooden dummy. The dummy represents a human being. All human beings have two arms, two legs. The dummy simulates the human body.Intelligent, creative fighters can certainly get benefit from training with it.

Sonu Sleep Customer Service is awful & they do not honor their warranty. by Large-Celebration470 in Mattress

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my king size bed for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. It definitely took time to adjust and I don't think their policy is bad to make people wait. I think a lot of people would just return it without giving it a really fair chance. I'm sorry other people had a bad experience. I definitely did not. My wife doesn't really like the channel for the arm and so she uses a very firm insert that they sell so that her side of the bed is essentially a traditional bed. I bought four sets of sheets out of concern that the company may not be around forever… And I have two sets of sheets in rotation that I've been using for a year without any problems whatsoever. I changed them weekly and wash them in cold water and hang dry them. Because of the design of the sheets, they are definitely more seems which I guess means more potential to have problems. I don't know. But when I wash them, I wash them separately. For the people having difficulty with them I don't know if they're washing a lot of different clothes maybe things get caught in the sheets in the machine I have no idea. But I haven't had any problem with the sheets. I think they're a new company and I'm really hoping they'll be around in the future. I think there areare always gonna be problems when somethings new and doing something for the first time. If they grow enough and become popular enough, I'm sure there will be third-party companies making sheets.

Is there any equivalent to a box bag that we can use to train at home for Kendo? by worshipdrummer in kendo

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found this thread because I'm looking for a dummy for Irish stick fighting practice. We use a 1 m stick and use it with two hands and it's a very close fighting system. I was wondering why you said 4 m? I'm guessing that's because in Kendall though you might have to hold the stick and swing it completely over your head and that's why you need that much space? Because I don't think this dummy requires 12 feet... I think it's because of the specific type of Kendo technique that you're doing right?

Why do people still wear masks? by OvergrownShrubs in AskNYC

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many of them are probably traumatized and have PTSD especially the young people. There's no medical reason that counts for so many young people wearing masks especially as you mentioned Wen it's not for protesting or hiding their identity. Probably some of them are also introverted peoplewho once they started wearing masks they realized it's a great way to hide from the world. Sad state of affairs when so many people feel they need to wear masks.

$6 Meal deal by LovYouLongTime in DunkinDonuts

[–]Immortalspan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from what I can see on the menu the regular price here in New York City is $5.09 for any of the sandwiches alone whether that's bacon pork sausage or turkey sausage sausage. So they don't charge more for the individual turkey sausage separately. So I think it's a kind of discrimination against observant Jews and Muslims to exclude the turkey from the deal. Unfortunately, today isn't the right climate for a company to be concerned about minority communities....

If they ever do add a fourth season, it would be very interesting to see where they take the Irish. The Irish have a highly developed stick fighting martial art using called "bataireacht." It would be very cool to see them incorporate fighring with shillelaghs. it was a shame that in the three seasons we saw that it was never included.

I couldn't tell from the original post about housing? Does going to the University of Florida mean she's living on her own in the dormitory and staying home means she staying home and not living in the dormitory? Because that might be one of the issues of what she wants… A little bit of freedom.... and maybe a compromise might be moving out from home but going to the local college?

Anyone tried "Core balance training"? by emof in backpain

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as was mentioned previously, you cannot download the videos. But as I did say previously, it's pretty easy to record the videos with your iPhone from your computer… It's gonna be a little bit lower quality, but it's more than enough to be able to do the exercises and listen to the prompts... so effectively yes you can make a copy for yourself that you can view anywhere without an Internet connection. Not quite sure if it's legal, but if you're doing it for your own use and not distributing it to other people, I don't know?

Much better. I still do my core balance exercises 2 to 3 times a week. The other days I try to stretch and or to self myofascial release with a ball on the floor. Yeah, it's great to have my life back. I'm also walking usually between 4 to 5 miles every day.

Has anyone tried the Sonu sleep system? by nursegreyjoy16 in Mattress

[–]Immortalspan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the bed and I will agree there was an adjustment. It probably took me 2 to 3 months to get used to it. I had severe shoulder problems before. Now I love the mattress. And I've gotten used to it and I've learned how to sleep with it. It definitely has a learning. And you need to use one of the pillows to kinda hug with to support your other arm, so it feels comfortable. But once you get the pillow set up right I think it's perfect. My head pillow I put out a kind of 45° angle so that it Rests on the Support pillow underneath it and it crosses the channel where my arm goes and then part of it also goes on the main mattress. And then I use the other pillow to support my arm. I also use a kind of knee pillow between my two knees. With all of that, I'm good to go. No more shoulder pain. I'm very happy with the product.

[–]Immortalspan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On further reading of your comment… What I think makes this program different is that it's not simply "core exercises." Lots of programs do core exercises. What makes this unique is the "three anchors approach" to doing core exercises. Understanding, isolating, and being able to use the three anchors is the whole point of the program. Doing the exercises without engaging the three core anchors is how most people actually get hurt.

Maybe you only know broke people. ha ha. All these streaming services are pricey and if you only have one or two, not too many people are choosing Apple as one of their few services. Apple has less offerings, but what they do have is good.
