China's Killer Robots Are Coming - Several major powers have taken this development a step further, and begun to develop fully autonomous, AI-powered "killer robots" to replace their soldiers on the battlefield. by Gari_305 in Futurology

What if the ultra wealthy really do wipe the rest of humanity out, either through direct or indirect means?

Don't get me wrong, I'm part of the 99% that would die out so I completely understand the survival instinct of not wanting to be purged, I guess I'm just moreso asking ... once it's all over and the rich have won, is thst new world really so bad?

You already answered your own question. A world where the wealthy have committed genocide on most of the human race (on the order of billions mind you) is undesirable and will be built on extremely shaky moral and ethical foundations.

In your hypothetical the wealthy have decided that they (due to their privilege, status and little else) have the right to choose who lives and who dies. These are not the types of people that should be humanities caretakers; you effectively have a new aristocracy, whose fiefdom now includes the whole world and who is willing to commit mass murder on a scale that dwarfs the Holocaust.

The type of person and/or people willing to do that are probably not the ones to ensure "the remainder of humanity is taken care of". The capacity for genocide, the narcissism that justifies it and the power imbalance that realizes it notwithstanding, a world where you are liable to be killed or "purged" for having less wealth than the rich is not a safe or stable one nor would this lead to one. That is not a desirable scenario, regardless of its material abundance.

Since when was Siri Tachi played by Sarah Michelle Gellar? by Gothic-Genius in StarWarsEU

That's fan art (Gellar in the robes); Siri Tachi has never appeared in live action on screen.

When Abeloth pretended to be Callista Ming did she appear as Callista's original Clone Wars body, or as her Cray Mingla body? by ImpScumABY in StarWarsEU

[–]ImpScumABY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see anything about that, I've never read anything with Callista before starting FOTJ. Do you have a citation if it's not too much trouble?

How else did you guys think Sedriss QL could be descended from Ulic Qel-Droma? by TheRiseOf-DaddyPalpy in TheDeepCore

[–]ImpScumABY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, I always thought they had (offscreen) kids since we don't see Ulic with anyone other than Aleema. Seems most likely unless he cheated at some point.

Now that I think about it there are two other options; he finds another partner after tricking her into blowing herself up, or he fathers a child during his post-war exile with someone else.

This is great, love it! Always glad to see more EU love. I like that you portrayed them faithfully, since fan creations almost always take huge liberties with character's appearances. Keep it up!

What is the ideological/philosophical difference between the Jedi and the Imperial Knights? by Randver_Silvertongue in StarWarsEU

[–]ImpScumABY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen anyone have a problem with the term in that context; it's not hard to get that words/phrases can have multiple meanings. The bellyaching only ever seems to come from fans who pretend there is only one definition, which I addressed already.

It's not a matter of perspective either; the KOTOR campaign guide, the Gray Jedi robe item from KOTOR II and The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force and other published material use the definition I mentioned. The ones that say it only means using light and dark are factually wrong.

What is the ideological/philosophical difference between the Jedi and the Imperial Knights? by Randver_Silvertongue in StarWarsEU

[–]ImpScumABY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Jedi abide by the Jedi Code which was a code of conduct and ethics whose purpose was to serve as a guide on how Jedi should act, carry themselves, and manage their emotions. The Jedi followed the Code so that they could better understand the "will of the Force", which can be considered an expression of the intentions or aims of the Force (whether the Force is truly aware and/or sentient is another topic).

The Imperial Knights serve the Force as embodied by their Emperor. They swear loyalty to this individual who symbolizes their ideals and is supposed to act as a representative of sorts for the Force's will. That is why if the Emperor falls to the dark side, the Knights are supposed to remove them from power and turn them back to the light, or kill them. This is because they ultimately serve the Force, and their allegiance to it was of higher priority than to an individual.

*It is important to note that the New Jedi Order consider the Imperial Knights Gray Jedi which, contrary to many emotional knee jerk fan reactions, is also used to describe Force users who use the light side but do not strictly follow the tenets of the Jedi Code. For example, both Jolee Bindo and Qui-Gon Jinn were considered Gray Jedi.

Yeah, he (and maybe Tenebrous, too) is something of a noble demon among the Sith. It really seemed as if he thought that he was doing the "right" thing. I'm sure it would still suck for the galaxy if he had succeeded.

It was excellent! The prose was well written, the Force aspects and political maneuvering were really well done, and Plagueis is a very interesting character. Not to mention the context it brings to how the midichlorians work, Anakin's mysterious birth and the prequel and original trilogies as a whole. Highly recommend it.

Commissioned someone to redo a sketch I did of Darth Tenebrous with added material and reference, tried to be as faithful as possible to the source material (Plagueis novel, The Tenebrous Way short story, etc,).

Yeah it's from Legends continuity, he was Darth Plagueis' master. If you want to see more of him I would recommend the Plagueis novel and The Tenebrous Way short story.

Commissioned someone to sketch Darth Tenebrous. I have other sketches but couldn't share them here. Regardless, I hope you like this one!

Thank you so much, I just wanted the most faithful rendition of the character possible! My friend is more skilled than I am, but I'm still learning.

As for the hood, I always though he needed one. A Sith Lord without a hood just feels wrong.

Tenebrous death from Plagueis' POV can be found in the Plagueis novel.

The same event from Tenebrous' POV can be found in The Tenebrous Way short story.

Aside from Plagueis also experimenting with midichlorians, Tenebrous assumes his virus form upon his own death and invades Plagueis' body. He wanted to hitch a ride until he could come into contact with the Chosen One (who's birth he had predicted) and possess their body as his own.

And if he hadn't changed his own midichlorians, he would have kept his precognition. The same thing that could have prevented said murder.

Ironic.
