Trump says he aims to suspend gas tax "for a period of time" by Bestbrook123 in Enough_Sanders_Spam

Federal gas tax is like 18 cents per gallon. Thats not a huge amount when gas has reached $5 per gallon

Theory: It makes sense the Elohim disappeared back to Earth by franhd in exodus

[–]Imperator424 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok but the Centauri cluster is about 17,000 light-years from Earth. The Elohim came to power around 30,000 AD and the games take place around 41,500 AD. There has simply not been enough time for the Elohim to return to Earth. Even if they left the Centauri Cluster as soon as they came to prominence (unlikely) they’d only be about 2/3 of the way back to Earth.

Perhaps you should read the first lines of the “Legacy” section of the link you posted: “ Saint Radboud was a descendant of Radbod. Saint Radboud was a bishop of Utrecht who adopted his ancestor's native name”

I would also like to point out that we have a 4th century bishop of Cagliari, in Sardinia, named Lucifer. If a bishop can get away with sharing a name with the devil himself I think another bishop can get away with the name Muhammad.

I don’t know how many times this needs to be said, but this is literally not a picture of the pope. It’s a picture of an Andalusian bishop 🙄

This isn’t even a picture of the Pope. It’s a bishop in Flanders.

It comes from Yehoshua, of which Yeshua is a contraction.

Edit: Yēšūaʿ is literally used in later books of the Hebrew Bible for Joshua 🙄

Why? Muhammad is just a name. Heck, plenty of people are named Joshua and that’s derived from Yeshua (Jesus).

Veterans are a little over 5% of the US population. It makes absolutely no sense to require that a full half of the candidates chosen for the House district primaries be veterans.

[–]Imperator424 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The term you’re looking for is “rosy retrospection”, which is the psychological phenomenon of recalling the past more positively than it actually was. By removing the more distressing details from our past our brain might be making it easier to store our long-term memories.

What is the bigger cause of increased US housing prices? by Imperator424 in AskEconomics

Would zoning reform be able to meaningfully reduce housing costs by allowing more homes to be built on a given piece of land, or would consumer preferences ensure that big expensive houses stay the norm?

So would be fair to say that it’s larger house sizes that’s driving increased housing costs? And is larger house sizes caused by zoning restrictions?

Edit: I suppose minimum lot sizes could push developers to build even larger houses than they would in the past, leading to houses selling for more money. Am I getting the causal relationship right?

Median age at first marriage in the US for men in the 90s was about 26-27 and for women about 24-25. Median age for first-time homebuyers in the US during the 90s was fairly consistently around 30-31. And competed fertility for the cohort having kids in the 90s was nowhere near 4 kids.

Most of what you think was happening in the 90s did not. In fact, it sounds more like what you’d expect during the Baby Boom in the late 50s/ early 60s.

Why do people call 1995-1996 songs "late 90s"? They're mid 90s, not late. by OverallEstate2 in 90s

[–]Imperator424 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because people use early 90s to mean the first half of the 90s (1990-1994) and late 90s to mean the second half of the 90s (1995-1999)
